it never did joball any harm his mum and dad are still solid.

Wouldn't do it with pigeons mate, they end up coo coo.

NICE TO HEAR THAT EVERY THING TURNED OUT RIGHT ROXY WITH THE BREEDING ,ITS JUST THAT SOME PEOPLE FROWN UPON IT BUT THE WAY I LOOK AT IT IS IF U CAN KEEP THE BLOOD STRONG WITH THE 2 BEST DOGS OV THE SA

I'm not quite sure how it works, but I think it all depends on how tight the line is between the dam & sire of the pair in question.. :hmm: The tighter the lines, the more chance of problems..

I could be wrong though!

I've got pups here from mum/son breeding. It was an accident, my fault. I never realised till it was too late but when i did i asked the vet and he said all this nonsense about 5 legs and all that is pish. Its not recommended to do it and its repeatedly doing thats when the problems start.

as the title says, just wondering is there any downsides as some people say

there can be down sides, whilst breeding that close can and will fix good traits such as temperament, confirmation and drive it can also fix bad traits, if you do go down that route keep all the pups (either yourself or trusted friends), cull the shite and when it comes time to breed one of the progeny of the brother/sister mating make sure it is a total outcross.

did this lining about 20 years ago after speaking to geneticsis who worked for the government he told me that you would get a smaller sized dog and litter ( the first litter that she had was 7 ) she had 4 , also if there are any faults they will be amplified ( 1 dog was undershot ) the bitch was very very slightly undershot, also it would amplified the good points , you just have to weigh up are there more good or bad points, he told me if i was a pig farmer he would advise me not to do it ,
