lapin2008 1,587
Its his age mate, I have the same thing here with my young one, his recall is perfect on every other situation but he just shuts off and wants to play when there is another dog. Mine is also a big dog so can be quite off putting for the other dog owner, I just try to keep eyes peeled and put him at heal as soon as i see anyone and when he tries to go get on him, or put him on the lead if i know i am about to walk right past someone else Edited January 26, 2012 by lapin2008

rob190364 2,594
Mine's the same (19 months old), getting better now but only if I tell her to stay before she starts running towards the other dog, once she's started running towards the dog she's deaf so I have to leave her to it. nat 8
My 2 still do it the lurcher (about 20mths) comes back if I shout him but my collie charges off and won't come back till she's had a good sniff it's my fault she was the first dog I trained and messed that bit up but I keep them both on the lead if it's in public not just cause of the collie but I don't trust other peoples dogs

darbo 4,779
instead of trying to recall him. i always trained pups long stays then practised it off the lead. found it to work in situations like this.assoon as he makes a move i would tell him to stay once its trained into him. then just walk up and put the lead on him giving plenty praise. it has worked for me in the past.also they dont wont to mess sbout with other dogs as they mature,
