As said, any work is good work at the minute. I did a bricklaying apprenticeship when i left school and as soon as i got my NVQ theres a f*****g reccession. The moneys not bad but when i was 16 they didnt tell me id have to drive up and down the country, cant work in cold, wet, windy or any other kind of weather, im 21 years old and my back, hips and wrists are f****d beyond repair so god knows what its going to be like when im 60, no boss will ever have any loyalty to you no matter how much you put yourself out and ill always be a number because theres hundreds of others on the phone pleading for my job. now i drive around and clear shit out of peoples gardens and to be honest i quite like it, my own boss, do my own hours and more time with the dogs. good luck in whatever you do.

Not only that scott their costing the tax payer millions wile their pocketing the profits wile paying their empoyees the min wage who then have to claim tax credits instead of the firms paying the workers direct wat they pay the agencys then most would not have to claim tax credits.

Paddy if you follow some ones advice on here about the myerscough college bit make sure you go to the

preston site mate, as there is a myerscough college in crocky park which is a small substitute for the one

in preston... i wasted 3 years in the crocky one, the only time i learnt something was when i travelled up

from the liverpool site to the preston site once a week with them... i done the gamekeeping course on there

i enjoyed myself when i was up in preston or out on one of my placements on altcar or leverhulmes estate,

only time i enjoyed myself at crocky was when i found a fox to ground and had the new teacher there digging

it.. he nearly didnt last long after the women out the horse stables were taking photographs :D

Good luck in what ever you take

i'm an agricultural engineer. i build steel frame buildings. steel erecting sheeting / cladding. concreteing. we build silage pits. slurry tanks barns cow sheds parlors. i also do concrete finishing. blah blah blah. as you can see from the other replies jobs are thin on the ground now. never mind good jobs. so do whatever you can. you say you enjoyed labouring. then get to it. but make sure your good at it and take every oportunity to learn and grow  someone summed it up in two words apply yourself. i'll add another. consistantly  and the sky is the limit.

i never learned a trade. i was helping a farmer friend rebuild a stone wall when an old fella asked me if i wanted a few days work. been with this mob around 15 years now. its long hours at times and hard work. but its not all bad. ive got millions of acres on hundreds of farms to go at. all i need is to retire so i'll get time to try some of it   good luck. a young man like you. the worlds your oyster

Every other boring fecker, who tells you you should know what you want to do by now do my head in, but im just wondering what people do off here and if there happy with there job!

I honestly have no clue what i want to be at all.

Obviously people ask out of curiosity and thats fine but i mean people who nag and seem to look down because you dont know, i just know i dont want a desk job, but if it paid the bills id have to do it.

I joined the Army as a stop gap almost 19 years ago, only meant to do 3 years. Wouldn't say I've enjoyed it but it pays the bills, and there are worse careers I could have chosen.
