rob84 112
got a kelpie here with a little bit of sheepdog in the mix, shes 16 months now, trained her up on the sheep but recently been taking her out bushing after rabbits, keen and will fly through the middle of bramble patches, good nose, just gets a little bit mad on scent when hunting needs to steady up a bit. Shes about 20" to the shoulder and light framed and shes come close a few times on rough rushy ground but nowhere near on open. Easy to train as well Quote Link to post

Neal 1,930
If you do a search on here there was a fairly long thread a year or so ago pertaining to kelpie and heeler crosses. I have three pure kelpies which I use for bushing and ferreting. They've caught rabbit, rat, squirrel and pigeon but invariably in cover as mine are fairly short (17" - 19") and don't have enough speed for catching a rabbit in the open. Mine are fairly laid back but I gather a lot of them are more hectic. They tend to work with me rather than for me. They will do as they're told but don't tend to need as much direction as other dogs I've had in the past. Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,729
TOMO on here has a bitch called Tara which has kelpie in her...i've seen it at graft with the dazzler loads of times and TOMO insists she is as good a ferreting dog as you'd come across? From what i've seen they have plenty to offer when it comes to a hunting companion? ATB Andy. Quote Link to post
