I assume by the vid that to serve it you would be to start cutting the legs off it.. presumably when its alive... they're just fooking wierd chinky kids get all excited when they get that for thier dinner.put that down to a british kid they would need councelling for months lol
lapin2008 1,587
I would eat it raw to try it but having it die while your serving your guests serves no purpose other then entertaining the sick fucks

mackem 30,061
Yup,it is south-african,countless reports online including an alleged rape of a 9-month old baby by 6 guys all desperate to be cured of aids. South Africa has one of the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rates in the world. To make matters worse, knowledge of HIV treatment and management is particularly poor and in some cases, completely erroneous. In fact, a myth is circulating in South Africa that is putting even more individuals at risk for contracting the virus:Sex with a virgin will cure HIV/AIDS and the younger the virgin, the more potent the cure. This myth has stolen the innocence many young girls. South Africa also has one of the highest rates of rape in the world and studies show that 15% of these girls are under the age of 11; 26% of these girls were between the ages of 12-17. This means that around 41% of the rapes committed in South Africa were against minors. It is key to remember that these statistics only show the rapes that were reported, and there are potentially thousands of other rape victims who did not report the crime. Chinese are the most omniverous race on the planet, the old saying was if it crawls, swims, flies, hops, walks or runs they will eat it,I once stood in wanchai wet-market watching some guy knock the plates off a live turtles shell with the edge of a meat cleaver as he prepared it for the table, when I used to shop for chickens I would point out the one I wanted, the old woman would cut its throat and drop it in a bin then stick the lid on,once the fluttering sounds had subsided and died she would pull out my dead hen, used to watch the guy the guy who owned the snake-soup shop opposite Southorn playground zip open live cobra to extract their bile to add to a glass of wine, when in rome and all that. Don't try and compare running a rabbit along side deep frying a fish within an inch of it's life then serving it on a plate for some pricks 'in' the same boat.

Is eating stuff alive is a tradition over there? The impression I got from both videos is that it was more a modern chef trying to do something new a bit like Hester whatever his name is over here. Just because some nation has a tradition doesnt mean we have to automatically think its great, we can still have a negative opinion cant we? There are villages/areas in africa that 'excercise' evil spirits from children by cutting them, am sure that some circles would consider that a tradition. Should we pat them on the back and praise them for sticking to tradition. This is tongue in cheek, as I dont personally believe that fish register pain in the same way that mammals do, its just that both these vids seem more about the novelty factor of eating something alive then anything else. I just basically dont see what prolonging anythings death in this way will add to the meal/taste or whatever
asanley 1,009
I was in Scotland and saw perfectly healthy , harmless mars bars callously thrown into the deep fat fryer , with no thought to thier welfare at all , it,s a sight that will live with me to my dying day.
mackem 30,061
The only reason those ying-yang fish are served like that is to show the freshness of the meal,if you go to Londons china-town theres a chinese fishmonger who has a tank of live carp, all his fish, lobsters etc are uber-fresh. The worlds a diverse place, some races have no concept of cruelty whether its to each other or to the animals they eat, theres one part of china where "house-deer"(rats)live embryos are a delicacy,I remember once seeing STAR-meat on a menu and asking what it was "Read it backwards" was the reply
