lapin2008 1,587
I tried this a few times after the last time the vid was put up on here. Never managed to get the guts to come out via the arse instead they seem to burst through the stomach wall and end up stuck under the fur usually down one of the hind legs. Would be good to perfect it although i dont think you would use this technique with large numbers due to the effort required. Its also much easier to do with young rabbits or when they have summer fur on your right mate ive tried it from last time it was up and it is a lot harder than it looks i ended up doing the same as you just couldnt get the knack of it i will try again but i bet it takes some perfecting he makes it look easy it is a good quick way as rabbits with no guts are a lot lighter atb ks Forgot to mention before but if i remember correctly its easier to do it on the does, so might be an idea to practice more on them. good luck Quote Link to post
TOMO 28,583
its good if you forget your knife,, but its a slower method than doing it with a knife. i have treid it a few times now,,, my advise is dont bother if its a doged rabbit, especialy if the dog is heavy handed,,, the guts wont come out proper and you get shit evrywhere. if there clean netted rabbits it does work a treat, but as i say no quiker Quote Link to post

Not trying to start a wind up, genuine question Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,165
Tried it. It's best when the rabbits are still warm, but you do need a bit of grip strength Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
Tried and failed 3 times today, where tough old fell rabbits maybe easier in the summer young rabbits??? My pal actually thought I was taking the piss and was winding him up.. I could not see a knife being faster than that man, time you put your hand in to pull the puddings out unless you where flicking the guts out.. JMO Quote Link to post
vduben 55
i tried it and just broke it inside!! Quote Link to post

If you where braking the backs and flinging guts out maybe quicker, surely not if you where incerting knife, cutting down and then pulling the guts out??? Sure some are quicker lol. I found it really hard and was just making a mess, will try again on some does as mentioned maybe some softer rabbits.. Do you find the rabbits up the dales on the higher ground are fatter and weigh more?? than your average rabbits. Quote Link to post
TOMO 28,583
yes giro you get some real woppers up there,, funny realy it seems to be the higher you get,,, but when you look at the grazing,, it doesnt seem as rich as in the dale bottoms, yeh start with a young doe,,a ferreted one as well, the dogs mess the insides up to much,, start right at the rib cage,, and you got to squeeze hard.. to be honest giro i think the gut flining is slower than getting your hand in,, somtimes you have to fling twice as the stomach somtimes get stuck.. stanly knife disposable gloves,, just a few second mate.... by the way it doesnt actualy come out the rabbits arse,,,it breaks the skin next to it Quote Link to post

Mabie try a hare lol. Eye when I tried it went down the side of a leg and sounded like in poped in side, thay got lobbed in with the ferrets.. Me pals seen the vid now so we both can have a crack.. Could you use this method at the end of a nights when rigor mortise has set in or only on freshly caught rabbits? Even if the methods not that great its bugged me that I cant do it lol. Will report back when its mastered. Quote Link to post
