Working parents

Recommended Posts

Is it important and essential when buying a puppy that the parents are good workers or done some work atleast ?

Would you class racing as work?

Edited to say.....has that been said?

a racer wont race if it didnt have drive

a racer wont run if it didnt have guts

a racer wont run if it didnt run if it didnt have courage

a racer wont win unless it pushes its way threw other dogs, and somtimes stonger dogs

never knock the racer mate ,,,they are what they are

I have a Non-ped, fastest dog I know with excessive pray drive, but she is laying in her kennel with her chest wide open. They are great but not the best, I wouldn't get another.

I've got a bitch lying in the kennel with a ripped leg, but I go by the old saying, "the useless ones never get hurt" !! I wouldn't right off a cross just 'cause one got injured !

Cheers.

It's good sense, but perhaps not essential.   It's very difficult to get an honest opinion from many owners on what constitutes working stock.....a lot of folk make good claims, but are perhaps not

I think we are all, broadly, in agreement that worker to worker is the best way..... but surely there is a case for the first cross that ISN'T from "workers" ? I own one; another well known lad on her

Like I said. Was linford Christies kids Olympic Champions?   Was Muhammad ali's kids boxing world champions?   Or George best, is his son a top Football player?   Good parents might increase y

very wrong i had bre the bitch three times with my dog tyne then i thought what if, so bred him again three days later with someone elses dog as she is the last of that line mchapmans bob katie luke ,my thinking sheell never have another litter so wasnt going take the chance as she was a real animal and i one of the best dogs ive saw and many others , but ten by then so there you go she was 8 when bruce came up and still game as a pebble lying in nettles to get rabbs with a pinned leg , i had border lad out with her at 9 and ahalf he would tel you the rest , my dog tyne fawn saluki lurcher was father as they are all blond like him and one balck and white one like her , so there you go , if you get one real good dog at her chosen game and the last chance to reproduce her you cut the odds by going the way i done it not the [bANNED TEXT] way but it worked for me

I saw the bitch work, she was 9 year old then carrying an old injury, with a pin in her leg, and I can only say she must have been a top bitch at 2,3, 4, year old you do not see many of her kind in a life time,

She may have been one of the best bitches ever, B.L. I'm not disputing that. My point is how Whin espouses his breeding and lines.... yet he put his bitch to TWO different dogs !! The resulting pups could have been from either dog, or a mixture of both !! So how can he qoute "LINES" when he isn't sure of the sire ?? And I don't believe for one moment he had them DNA tested ! Both the sires probably were top class dogs, again, that's not the point ! If I bought a pup, I'd want to know the CORRECT breeding, not what Whin thinks they are, just by coat colour.

Cheers.

i do what i do charti remember this they are there to suit me and real working dog men bred to adonkey lana produced outstanding pups but bred to good dogs even better only bred her twice one to my old mates coursing champ and my dog who comes down from my sniper pup, the old collie got one tie after tyne had four over 3 days ,only costs 99 pound for d na mate ps whenyou have a great dog and at ten and short on good stud dogs well i made sure either ones was good enough so would never lose out cause if one was like mother i was happy as that was more than good enough ,lucly i have a few out of her first litter as they are outstanding ,second litt not bad ,in any mans hand ,nothing to do with coat coulor as tynes pups are peas in a pod as i a have several out him about localy myou have to remeber i have a pic of every pup every parent from 93 so no luck as pup has same nature mother does same things others are like father when you keep a tite lines you can see simalarities so easy , retreive without teaching forward pacy go in cover , head strong mothers side fathers side , well behaved easy going clever on a chase , so its not chance realy i dont use monkeys non workers to breed there tried ,and tested at the game ,how many litters have you bred charti how a many lines have you kept ,to give judgment ,on my dogs ,

In 45 years of keeping and running dogs, I've never bred a litter, or bragged about having "a line" !! You did what you did, for your own reasons, .... but don't think anyone who knows what you did will ever buy a pup of you again, and be confident in what they are getting !! You could have said what you were doing and that would have been OK...But even the guy with the other stud dog didn't know what you were up to !! Let this drop now..... but for sure, any one who knows what you did will think twice before having a pup from you !

got enough about me not to go any further had two litts since and all went pretty quick could had sold double but glad when they are gone ,that was a one of not my stile but got enough to keep my line going or my type ,the problem i have at moment is to keep the collie line going got the saluki type doing real well ,but to get collie type like lana cant find them ,so maybe that old strain will die away her daughter the same hard hunting soft mouthed on rabbs but feisty with anything else and can run all nite ,but to get colie types lke that well not saw many ,mate i a have traveld the world over , im very choosy who gets pups , i think the [bANNED TEXT] hard biten collie types are about lost nowadays ,dogs that do 3 min on a hare pre ban knock 3o rabbs over kneck a few roe a few foxes retreive to hand alive, the bans not helped ,you know i never had to double that type up on anything and they self entred ,

[bANNED TEXT] guys back on track what do you think breeding non worker to non worker is it the way forward or an easy fix for people to say this is a collie grey or deerhound grey, beddie grey , or do you think worker to worker no matter what type ive found good worker to worker you get the best dogs ive weather coursing hunting , and people who by of non working parents do they serously have work in mind or just the look of adog cause i dont give ahoot what they look like as lons as they do the nessasary

Whin: Tomo and Andy seem to have succesfully bred the coursing, Saluki, stock into the lamping types. Their Minshaw/Coursing/Collie types are doing as well, if not better, than any others...so why not talk to these lads for an outcross to your type ? They are genuine lads, who look to promote the Lurcher strain.

Cheers.
