Guest vin
Hello all. When I was a young lad I used to pop one of my ferrets in an old cloth Bank money bag with a bit of string wrapped round top,This would be slipped inside my coat pocket and that was it.Off i went. Nowdays Im struggling on my own sometimes with box/bags.spade,dog..Its like going on yer hollidays..too much luggage. Does anyone else use an alternative to the boxes for a little bit of hedge hopping... I.E. few nets in pockets,1 ferret in something, quick up and over the fence, nets on,ferret in and away quickly..none of this setting your stall out with loads of gear...? sometimes when your out walking and people see you with spade and boxes they get the wrong idea. I wanna go to the odd spot incognito as they say..LOL. atb Vin. Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
One of these, ferrets in the box, nets on top, a garden trowel and dog at heel. Works well. 4 Quote Link to post
Malt 379
We used to use the old bag of ferrets method years ago! I've used a rucksack in the past, but it was a real cheap one my mate bought in a job lot and the stitching wasn't too clever. Ferret's head was popping out all over as it found weaknesses here and there! Quote Link to post
TOMO 28,656
i still do the same mate, when im having a mooch,, bank bag, dozen nets in other pocket,, a also have a short handled spade, the blade sits in my inside poachers pocket, and the handle goes up under my armpit,, theres no other way round it im afraid,,, or your carrying a box.. there are those little poachers boxes though. i have thought about another idea though,, but not worked on it.... i thought about one of those big bum bags that hikers yous, cut a small pannel out the front 3-4 inch square with a stanley knife, and stich or ty rap a square of 1/4 inch mesh in. or you can buy kits to put brass eylets in things,, 3 or 4 big ones of those might do the trick Edited November 24, 2011 by TOMO Quote Link to post

Once the box was in i just melted through the rucksack in line with the air holes in the box. To look at it you'd never know it was a ferret box, the only drawback would be if they started scratching at the wrong moment lol. Its not happened yet though and i've used in a few places. KittleRox 2,147
Got a new bag off the net a few weeks back for going wandering but the canvas material is too heavey and its a cnut to tie round the top, not impressed, had one a few years back which was much easier to tie etc, need to try and find another Quote Link to post

I've got a seperate tie with velcro on it now to tighten around the top to stop them getting out. Not impressed with it though I have to say! And mine is a two ferret bag, but only big enough for one ferret. Like the idea of making a box that'll fit in a ruck sack though....solves the problem of squashing the ferret if you go arse over tit aswell! Quote Link to post
