kenny14 656
would you need a degree to work for basc, gwct etc Not if you're cleaning the shitters in their office, no. Depends on what job you're on about, obviously Don't be too sure about that either! Nowadays it seems most jobs advertised seem to have a person specification that starts with 'the successful candidate will be educated to degree level or higher'. I suppose Bsc could stand for 'Bachelor of Shit hole Cleaning'
FightTheBan 1,147
I would say yes, depending on what role you are going for. GWCT is very much science based and they always look for candidates with a degree. But with tuition fees at an all time high and work scarse at best I would say don't bother. You could end up 4 years down the line with upwards of £30,000 of debt with no prospect of a well paying job. Think carefully mate before you make any decisions. Saho-man 50
rather have 30k debt and be educated than be debt free and ignorant.
mackem 29,135
than be debt free and ignorant. I am debt free and ignorant mate, your 100% accurate however, money is easy enough to make depending upon your character, but education is priceless,I constantly drum that into my kids, they say I make their ears bleed and am like a broken-record,I couldnt give a toss as long as they get a decent education, its one thing no one can steal or take away from you.

And on the flip side I've met some real thick f'ckers that have degrees! but as far as the job market goes, unless you get into a proper specialist role or industry and work hard, or learn a trade and are shit hot at it, or are bloody lucky, you're going to struggle to get a really good job without decent education. mackem 29,135
so pretentious as to label people without a degree ignorant Ignorance is a state of mind mate,I am like Rob,I have met plenty of people with degrees who within their limited environment are shining-stars,take them away from their field of expertise and they are treading water clearly out of their depth,I have also met pretentious people,I get invited to decent BBQ's now and again, the vast majority in attendance are professional and white collar workers(My collars always been grubby)I always felt like a fish out of water as my education is street level, nowadays when asked whats my profession I say without hesitation neuropsychopharmacogeneticist, everyone just says "Oh right....Interesting" and rapidly changes the subject rather than asking the obvious "What the f*ck is THAT?????" I have the actual degree in the loft somewhere,I got it made in Bangkok, the guy even asked did I want it from Oxdord or Cambridge.
