7 billion people - what's your number?

Recommended Posts

An Indian man who has more than 30 wives and more than 90 children has just announced that he is looking to extend his huge family.

Ziona Chana is a 66-year-old man who is the leader of a Christian religious sect called the Chana. Chana is married to 39 women and he has 94 children. Chana lives in northeastern India, in a 100-room, four-story home. Chana says that he once married 10 women in just one year alone.

UAE national Daad Mohammed Al Balushi has 90 children from 17 wives. He also has 50 grandchildren. Another marriage is on the cards in two days time — with a Pakistani national. But Balushi is already prospecting for his next wife — preferably from India.

Speaking to TOI from Manamah in the emirate of Ajman over telephone, he said: ''I'm visiting Jaipur next month to replace a leg I lost in an accident with an artificial limb. During my trip to India I hope to find an Indian wife. All my wives are uneducated. I am looking for an Indian bride who is educated and should be in the age group of 18 to 22.

UberDesi would like to congratulate Nanu Ram, champion reproducer and father of 21 children and counting. By the way Nanu Ram is 90 years old and on his fourth wife and counting. Nanu doesn’t want to stop reproducing till he’s 100.

Here’s the weird part, the mother of his latest daughter, Girija, is his daughter-in-law.

I think I might rather snuff it than end my days Its going to be everyone living in High-Rise flats, compulsory purchase orders on your gardens so the government can build tower blocks,I might star

I bet your a right barrel of laughs on a night out! FTB

Massive overpopulation + = Soylent Green.

maxhardcore will have a bee in his bonet when he see's this,,,lol

i was 3,465 cant remember the rest,,,, but i dont think its that acurate,, cos theres 24 hours in a day,, it doesnt ask what time of day you were born........ what is intresting is that from the 50-60s,, that it has gone up stageringly, from 2 billion, intrestingly thats when the pill was first introduced,,,, doh

im shure the increase is because of better medicine,,, but makes you think,,perhaps we were less inclined to sleep around befor then..

i do think though,, there are 2 many of us on this plannet.....

heres i thought,,,, do you think our plannet is now heavier with all the added weight of people????? or perhaps its lighter............because of all the fosil fuels we have burned???? a puzeler

Qwhite-Question.gif

Is the Earth getting heavier? As the human population grows, are we putting on weight as a planet? David Hubble, US

Awhite-Question.gif

Chris - Yes but perhaps not for the reason that he was suggesting. People often think that as we increase our population the weight of the people comes from nowhere. People just weigh more and the Earth therefore weighs more. That's not true. The Earth is a sealed unit where all the of the weight that was on it to start with doesn't go anywhere. You don't make weight from nowhere so people have got to gain weight by taking weight from elsewhere on the Earth. Eating food that's come out of the Earth into their bodies. The planet as a whole, does that get heavier over time? The answer is yes, it can. Every year Earth gains about the weight of two aircraft carriers landing on it – two HMS Ark Royals. 40,000 tonnes-worth of debris lands on Earth. You can demonstrate this for yourself. If you put a big plastic sheet or a white sheet on your grass in the garden on a nice day, leave it for a few hours and then run a magnet over it. You can often find specks have just fallen down from outer space and landed on your magnet. Debris, dust and other stuff raining in from space contributes a huge amount of weight to the Earth every single year. Yes, we do gain weight.

good find scot,,, although i dont think he answered it that well,, he just said people get hevier by consuming plants ect,,, but plants regrow,,, but with more people,,, i think the burning of focil fuels is a bigger concideration than eating stuff

The output number will just be based on a population growth curve which will only be accurate to a day, the error in everybodys number will probably be several hundred either way.

The mass all the humans (and animals for that matter) are made of is was already here in the form of food and oxygen. Its just been converted from one thing to human flesh. The only way the earth will get heavier or lighter is if we gain or loose matter to/from space.

Yes but the mass of the fossil fuels doesnt just dissapear does it tomo? Its completely converted into other mass and energy, all of which remains on the earth. So the mass of the earth remains for all intents and purposes constant.

so does burning lump of coal in to smoke or gas not alter its weight???

No, weight is equal to mass times the accelation due to gravity. The mass of the products of burning and the coal itself before burning will be equal and gravity will remain constant so the weight wont have changed either. The reason smoke appears lighter than its coal counterpart is because it rises right? Well that I believe is due to its much reduced density (because it is a gas). If you were in a vacuum with a container of smoke and a container with an equal mass of coal, they would 'weigh' the same.

I've just blagged that so I might be wrong on the physics. I need dinner.

Carbon also weighs something, all the carbon on the planet orginated from the sun. Plants lock in carbon generated from the sun, which is what they keep banging on about when we burn coal (carbon that was captured millions of years ago).
