RossM 8,149
well a while ago i got talking to a lad in the village who had ferrets and a wee beddy whippet, i was out walking dogs the other day and got talking to him again and offered him a wee look on my permission. so set off this morning with his wee dog and my younger bitch and 2 ferrets tried 4 warrens, set 6 nets and a small jill entered, let it settle and was followed by a bit bumping and a bolt from an unetted hole and rabbit dissapeared into the wood, onto next warren and this time 9 nets down, we rechecked as it was still heavy cover not to have missed any holes and then entered a larger hob down, not 15 seconds had passed and we had a bolt, safely pursed in the net, dispatched the bunny and settled down again, then we got a bolt from an unetted hole some 20yds into the stubble field my bitch saw it and it didnt get very far picked it up pretty easily, i took a photo of the retrieve on my phone as i had forgotten to take the camera, this is only her 3rd time out with ferrets and is steady with them even though i never broke her to them, wouldnt have thought its her 3rd outing as she weaves in and out nets fine and sits and watches the holes well ferret resurfaced and onto the next warren, this was a 3 holer and the jill entered again, not too long and we got another bolt into the net, so that was 3 accounted for, ferret out again and onto another 3 holer which had nothing at home, called it a day and away home for a bacon roll and watch the 3-2-1 game on espn so all in only 3 bunnies accounted for but hey ho! better than nowt, bitch on the retrieve taken from mobile hence the shite quality.
