biggest game of the football calander

Recommended Posts

cant get no more passionate then a steel city derby pal, been to man city - utd (shit) liverpool - everton (they both sit together and get along), Yids - arsenal ( granted spurs - west ham probably better)

Get yourself down to a West Ham - Millwall game !

The most passionate rivalries are when its about more than just football......the area rivalry between West Ham/Millwall is as bigger factor as the football itself ......likewise Wolves/West Brom,Southampton/Pompey and of course Rangers/Celtic are all far bigger derby games than Sheffield Utd/Wednesday.

For me the biggest derby game in British football on the pitch is still Liverpool - Man Utd.....its got everything, huge clubs, great football teams, massive support and massive history....

your just scared ti support your local team rob mate. :whistling:

history or not when push comes to shove he wont put out a penny and will sell out to the first bidder  the only reason he bought you was your a cheap team and no one else wanted to carry the shame of owning a crap club :tongue2: but seriously he will do the club no favours at all and leave behind a massive debt :thumbs:

Judge im going on what ive seen not what ive heard....ive been to loads of derby games over the years, admittedly i havent been to a Sheffield one for about 10 years but it was nothing special then,i remember being in the Leppings Lane end back in the 80,s it was nothing compared to Wolves/West Brom ......most of todays rivalries stem in some form or another back to the hooligan stuff from the 70,s and 80,s....West Ham/Millwall was always massive,Wolves/West Brom,Birmingham/Villa,Sothampton/Pompey,Leeds/Man U,even Ipswich/Norwich were all far bigger more intense rivalries than the Sheffield clubs....Wednesday never even had a hooligan firm.....The steel city derby might be big in the steel city but its not big on a national scale.

For noise/passion and sheer ferocity the best ive ever seen was Fenerbache/Galatasary :icon_eek: ...now that was an experience........though im told River Plate/Boca Juniors takes some beating....but Argentinas a long way to go to see a game of footie :D

wednesday have always had a hooligan element but granted was never on par with the likes of millwall, west ham, Birmingham & Stoke etc ( we never made documentires about it though ;) )

[bANNED TEXT]'t to a rival match in Ghana when i was over the Hearts of Oak vs Asanti and that was another level never seen anything quite like it. My dad's a Boro fan and i remember going to the old ground with and the reception away got was quite something.:thumbs:

I would be surprised if you did see anything on leppings lane to be honest most takes place in city before & after the match.

Joking aside, as long as you enjoy the game, banter etc, it doesn't matter which teams are playing.

Why do you think West Ham were asked to do a documentary ?...because they were the most infamous football hooligans in the country thats why ;) The big rivalries were not necessarily the local rivalries apart from West Ham/Millwall and Wolves/West Brom.......West Ham had a massive rivalry with Cardiff,Stoke,Notts Forest,Pompey,Leeds,Birmingham who all had good firms and a big following....and of course they all had big rivalries with each other......West Ham and Millwall never had big numbers but still led the way and were the most reknowned firms in England, that was recognised up and down the country.........when West Ham took the Holte End in 82 with less than 100 lads it kicked off the trend of the taking of ends being the ultimate humiliation......Villas Holte End was 26,000....that was more than our whole ground got at Upton Park.....less than 100 West Ham lads got past police because of the claret and blue being the same as Villa... 5 minutes after kick off got up to the back wall and let out the icf and mile end mob chants.....26,000 Villa just couldnt believe what they was seeing, there was madness for a few minutes but that was a legendary moment in hooligan culture that started the trend of taking ends....Chelsea lost their Shed end so often they made it the away fans end eventually !.....Its all finished now and been replaced by knobheads who think running towards a crowd and throwing a few bottles, then running back again......all with the safety of a police escort is some kind of fun  ......
