artic 595
I found this and some what but I can understand why people protect their stock I was awoken in the night with one of my cocks crowing, this was about 11:30pm. I got dressed quickly and grabed my bow and crossbow thinking it was a fox trying to get into one of the coops. Turns out it was a couple of guys trying to steal my birds! I shot at the coop (as a warning shot) then shone my flashlight at them and shouted that they should "keep still because I'm armed and prepared to shoot!" They ran off anyways (as you would) and the dog and I ran after them, but they where well away. They where not locals, they where hungarian, probably came over the border just to nick the birds. Anyway they didn't get any of my birds. I thought that was the last of it, but the next day I hear the cocks making a right racket and go out to investigate and found my beautiful Bielefelder cock dead in his run. Looks like he was shot, with an air-riffle. A country road runs along side the chicken feild. So I took down a fence to let the Bielfelders run with the rest of the flock, and have some protection against hawks and that from my other cock. Everything was fine. I also reported it to the police. The next day it happened again, another bird shot dead...Pointless it's as though if they can't have them than neither can I. I reported it to the police again and they sent someone down, but he couldn't really do anything other than take a statement. The birds have all been locked up since, luckily I have a very large shed/barn for them. I'm also hiding out along the road to see if they come back and I've got a neighbour up the road keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. I've gotta let the birds out agian soon though they're getting bored indoors, but if they do come back it won't be a warning shot.

Richie10 345
Are you near the border of Hungary? I would have thought it is a revenge attack, keep the birds in and they will soon tire. Their are some strange people about.

artic 595
Whoever wrote that should be a detective, because how the f**k he can tell someone is Hungarian just by shooting arrows and holding a torch from 100 feet away is beyond me! lol There's more..... Someone else not all that far away has also had birds taken. We've discovered that all of us have advertised our birds for sale in the local weekly free paper, then when called up and asked about the birds, we've all given out our addresses so the customer can "come and see the birds". It's definatly the same people going off the accents on the phone... the gits. None of us have the contact details of the interested buyer, so if you are selling your birds I'd recommend asking the caller for their number so you can call them back. Then you've at least got a phone number without giving out your address. We will get them though the villagers are quite upset about this "crime wave" (their words lol). I'm thinking of putting another ad in the paper for next week, giving out the adress of an empty house down the road and then leaving my Staffordshire terrier in their old chicken coop over night. artic 595
Great story Where's it from, Artic? Whoever it is, I hope they get a result. Ahh well it gets better.... I live in the middle of some woods, and i'm certain that the would be thieves are comming onto my property via a bridge further down the road (there is a stream between the chickens and the road, with a 6 foot high wall supporting the road. We're lower than the road) there is no way they're comming round the front or over the stream. I've set some trip wires today and am planning on digging another booby trap tomorrow. I think that landing waist deep in fresh chicken poop and water will give them the right message. I've also placed another ad in the paper (not that they'll call first). It comes out on Monday, so we'll see what happens.
