worldruler 58
collies up here in the western isles have massive variation, with the smaller working dogs tending to be merle in colour and the bigger short coated dogs being as big as 25inches and looking like a husky cross, very very dog aggressive alot of the time too, my neighbour has one and he is a right b*****d, but a cracking looking animal Quote Link to post
STUNTMAN 552
Out here in the western united states there is allot of cattle collies, or BC's that are bred for cattle. Some of them are beasts, 60lbs robust all day dogs with the ass to back it up. so yes they are out there. Quote Link to post

gnipper 6,755
a mate of mine has a hancock dog half collie its not much faster than a collie, its big heavy thing collie dog over greyhound bitch, ithink it would be better lining a collie bitch with the greyhound you seem to get better that way. Is it true that Typp Ratcher puts Greyhound dogs over Border Collie bitches I told that by a few people how true it is I not know i.ve seen one of his dogs it was 19 inches tall The mother of my bitch was from Typp Ratcher lines and was quite famous, she was 3/4 collie 1/4 grey. She stood about 19" and took over 100 big rabbits in her life time. A good few watched her work and were astounded by her all round ability. did it look abit like the one in my pic ?? Yes. johndogs 7
i think if you want a dog for just ferreting you cant beat a pure collie. i have a bitch she marks well no need to tie her up when ferreting holes she sits calm watching the nets works the brecon beacons all day it would be nice if she had a bit more speed i might put a greyhound on her one day Quote Link to post

undisputed 1,664
One of the best/ and cleverist dogs in the world IMHO, Very under rated dogs (working typre) If they were quick enough we'd all have em or hunting, You wouldnt need the cross too the GH The only people that under rate them are the ones that don't own them 1 Quote Link to post

Blue one 89
rabbits Thats some bag for a pure collie. Was the rabbits easy? Was it mainly squaters? I know on some islands here in Ireland, the rabbits are easy enough and don't run as well as some mainland bunny's.. Quote Link to post
