Guest bezza
I've got a big chest freezer and a smaller upright one. I have been using the smaller one for raw tripe and beef which is delivered frozen. In order to save a few bob on electricity I've been thinking about just using one freezer for both dog food and human food. The only thing separating them would be plastic bags. What do you reckon? Is there a risk of infection from the raw tripe and beef? I don't fancy e-coli or Salmonella. Edited July 7, 2011 by bezza

Attack Fell Terrier 864
I think its disgusting, especially with tripe. I've got a separate freezer for the dogs snap, and when it's opened it does smell of frozen tripe. Would I f*ck mix the two.
leegreen 2,100
I have to agree, I have three freezers and even the rabbits smell of tripe if kept with tripe. I don't think it would do you any harm though.
hunt 30
I feed fallen stock and in order to obtain a licence it has to be prepared and stored in a separate place away from human food and also labled not fit for human consumption your tripe will of come from beasts culled for eating but there's a good chance the meat isn't and you would never no How it died better safe than sorry mate especially if kids are involved
BORDERSCOT 3,816
Keep all in same freezer - different compartments all bagged. Hasn't done me any ill.

Guest bezza
Thanks for the replies lads. I've definitely decided not to mix the two.I've just read freezing does not kill all bacteria, so as there are kids involved I'm not going to risk it. Cheers.

chimp 299
doesnt matter what way you look at it or if 'you still here' it is classed as a risk , animal product stored with human product. i bet you wouldnt feel so comfortable freezing some dodgy sheep brain stem parts or a bit of tb beef next to your fish fingers would you ?
