Clare 33
I have always used Panacur wormer for my adults and my pups with no problems, I have a litter of 6 week old pups have been wormed regular evey 2 weeks as normal, all pups were normal and happy they were due to be done again this coming Monday on thus night I noticed one was crying and wouldn't settle, withing half hour it was fitting, and withing two hours three were going same way, rushed them to vets and £400 later I had three dead puppies they ran bloods and came out that the wormer wasn't working and they had got anemia and a infection from worms, none of the puppies had looked worm bloated. but apparently Panacur isn't as strong as it used to be and some worms are getting an immune to it!! I now have 7 labs and 2 jacks on a anti bacs and now have been wormed with Drontal, so thought I would put this up here so no one has to go through what I did from now on adults will have panacur and the pups will b drontal

skycat 6,174
Thank you for putting that up: so sorry for your lost pups, but I've been saying for years that Panacur isn't really up to the job, especially in single doses. Had the same thing happen to me years ago with a rescued pup: wasn't happy with the result from Panacur so dosed her with a cut down Drontal tab: never seen so many worms come out of a pup. Maybe someone could pin this as a warning to anyone with pups?
