sawdust and kitz

Recommended Posts

My jill is due any day(any second) and she just started dragging sawdust in her nest im wondering will it affect the kits i added a bit more straw in front of her den so she can take that instead so if it will endanger the kits i'll need to get it out now but dont want to bother her nest by changing everything so close to giving birth need answers asap lads

cheers Micky

if your talking about shavings then there will be no problem ... if its dust then i would remove it and leave just the straw

Why do people put towels and fecking pillow cases in for the kits?.... A good handful of clean straw is all that's needed and less chance of a kit getting lost in the folds of a towel.

Remember to have some fresh meat ready for the kits when they start crawling about the nest at about three weeks old or sooner.

i would not put any type of cloth items in for nesting as kits can get tangled up and suffocate, same as with pups you can never be to careful.and as for sawdust i have never lost a ferret to sawdust poisoning.
