£8 an hour for a 17yr old is good money mate.in fact thier family men i know who work for less an hour.

A man is rich in proportion to what he can do without.

at the moment if i earn £200 a week its been a bloody good week, but luckily iv not got any major ties.   You dont miss what you dont have. I think having to live on very little makes you far more

the more you got the more you spend

Exactly. Some people are no better off with twice as much as the next man because they live too extravagantly.

What you got in mind fieldsportsman?

well, im 17, but i want to go to college and get a degree in iether conservation or agriculture, had a quick flick through, saw some manual labour jobs on a farm, paying out about £8 an hour, obviously there were more advanced jobs on farms eg managers etc, paying out about 30k a year

As ive said previous once the economy picks up agri will be a good area to be in as there will be a shortage of jobs. A lot of experienced drivers working in farming at the minute are from the construction industry who will go back when it picks up.

I think whatever you decide you should at least do a year or two at college, hopefully by the time you leave you will have a more level head, know what you want to do and the work situation will be in a better state of affairs.

A lot of money to be made in farming if you specialise in something and more importantly you are 'good at your job'. Make a name for yourself and the skys the limit.

I done a conservation type degree and the market is saturated at the minute. It seems to be the 'in thing' at the moment.

Get yourself off to colledge and dont be tempted by an 8 pound an hour labouring job now then end up being a labourer all your life.I am speaking from exspierience instead of learning a trade at your age i went down the pit for more money and now i regret it.

But on the other hand if he were to start driving now by the age of 21 he would be an asset and very desireable.

Just a thought.

If its money you want and you dont want to go down the 'academic route' then start dricving now and learn fast.

A young lad who can work long hours and drive high spec agricultural machinery is well sought after.

Just my opinion.
