you will get mostly polecat coloured. As the polecat gene is the dominant, whereas other colours are recessive gene's.

Breeding different colours wont matter, its only when you start breeding across the lin ie; brother to sister, that you might start incurring problems.

the pole cat colour is ok, i quite like them anyway :) and the people who keep them who want some kits like the polecat colours as they have a few already....cheers for the replies so far.....the poley in the pic is actually the brother of the one i have at the moment,i need to get a new picture but am using it as a guideline as he looks a spitting image of the brother in the pic :thumbs-up:

I would have thought putting the best to the best to produce the best was the way to go, you know your ferrets & i really dont think colour comes into it, especially if your breeding ferrets to work. you obviously want hardy stock & handlable stock, the handling comes down to you before you re home any kits you dont keep for yourself

If you get it right and produce good all round ferrets i dont think you will have a problem :)

I don't show my ferrets I only work them.Therefor colour doesn't enter into the equasion

when i'm looking at breeding a litter.

What's more important to me is their working ability and temperament.

Nothing worse than a second rate worker that's a biter to boot.
