When i used to ride exersice for a racing yard, i used to have a coursing grew and would put her on the horse treadmill whilst riding out, didnt rate it as she would never use herself properly on it and always looked a bit uncomfortable.

Cant beat a bycycle imho.

Maybe some of the treadmill knockers would like to come on and show Graig Nuttall where he was going wrong.......

I was thinking of this picture when I read the post.

I would have a tread mill ,if I had the cash to spare, but I have read that a well respected greyhound vet , does not advocate them, as they fail to provide the cardiovascular exercise needed.

I think Sandymere posted the link ,along with a rambling article on bananas.

I could be mistaken as to the site ,it might be from M******S.

PS I don't pretend to be more informed on conditioning than CN.

I believe Rose either drew,or beat Dancer in a match, and Foxy is known to anyone who has followed coursing .

i did use one for a couple months but soon got rid although i hate road walking sitting there watching them on a treadmill was even bloody worse, can see that they might be useful in bringing a dog back on from injury but other than that id rather walk the strreets if im not getting them out to work

For the 100th time!

Treadmills are not a replacement for walks, they are an additional form of conditioning a dog. Quite the opposite to being lazy, as when used properly not only are you walking the dogs as normal but having to spend more time watching the dogs on the mill, and working out training programmes etc.

You can condition a running dog to it's full TRUE potential without using a treadmill.

You need to see the dog in full flow to observe it's needs. Keep watching keep watching and keep watching.......

Some of the owners need to go on those treadmills, not the dogs.

Very true Artic, but you can also use the treadmill for the same thing.

There are many different routes to the same destination, people have to take the one which suits them and their dogs ;)

Couldn't have put it better Moll. It's not an "either", "or" question. All options can be looked at and just because you use a mill doesn't mean you stop the free running that promotes cardio efficiency.
