bert the fert 28
Are your chickens as territorial as mine ? I've been putting wild bird food out all over the garden, but if the chooks see the wild birds feeding, they go scoff their food. Peevish buggers. Here's a coupla pics of them nicking seed from the garden wall.
trappa 518
Ha!. My chooks are more laid back than yours then! When i scatter a few grains for them to peck at half the sparrow population come down for a feed but my hens dont seem to mind.
fireman 11,463
I got rid of my chooks now but the hens would let the sparrows and dimmocks feed along side them but my cockrel would try to kill them and did so many times .
bert the fert 28
Aww @ nasty cockerel Hector's an arse, but at least he doesn't kill other birds. I think mine are mebbe displaying the nature of their breed, cos i remember the breeder telling me that Jersey's are terribly greedy birds.

He winds me up by picking up Hinge, my favourite hen and squeezing her leg, saying " there's plenty good eating on that " He's all and i'm all Lucky for him i know he's joking

I let the dogs out one day, a few weeks ago. After about half an hour i could hear Pob, the old lurcher, yipping indignantly. When i went outside to see what was wrong i found both dogs corralled into a corner by the five bar gate. Moomin the springer was quaking in terror behind Pob, and Hector the cockerel was strutting up and down in front of them with his chest stuck out, stamping his feet, and giving them the wing of doom. He's such an arse, that bird. But he does make me laugh.
