jigsaw 11,902
Went out last week at the request of a farmer friend, the goats had broken into his barley field and ate a vast ammount of his crop so I got a phonecall asking to have a wander and cull any I came across. So on a Saturday at 2 o clock Kevin,my 15 year old son and myself accompanied by my 3 dogs,Taz the kelpie X,Samara the Saluki and Sonic the Saluki 1st X.First off we decided to introduce Sonic to the sheep for the very first time.He behaved very well and I see no future problems in that area. just to be safe we first kept him on the lead, but after a short whileit was evident that wasnt necessary. Had all 3 dogs free roaming with the sheep and John the farmer gave the thumbs up when he saw how well behaved they were. When we were done with this we headed off into the forestry to see if we could find the smellies and get some good eating for the freezer. after walking an hour we spoted the herd half way up the mountain way across the woodland. If you look at the centre of the next pic you can spot the white dots, thats them babys. We headed over towards them but it was a bloody hard slog. When we came to terms with the herd and close enough to a shootable distance,Kevin held back with the dogs and I crept slowly to within 40 yards of them.I lined up the 1st billy, and surprisingly there were no she goats in the herd.It was an all out male syndicate :clapper: Well I laid out in the high grass and put the sights on a nice big male,I squeezed the triger and down he went,I furiously relaoded and took down 3 more before they dissapeared over the ridge.Heres the first two, young and tasty and managable in size. Kevin got stuck in draging them down to be cleaned and ready for removal from the hill Notice Kevins cammo clothing we had designed specially for the hill?Makes him almost invisible

jigsaw 11,902
2 more at the end of the hill, note the terrain.steep and rough. I had the glorious task of sorting out the messy stuff check out the bulging gut, full of grass. Sonic not sure what to make of it all,lol Samara was not impressed with the gunfire or the dead animals so will not be going again. Well the end of it all is I have some nice lumps of meat for the next while, the farmer is happy and the goats are hopefully away from the crops for another bit.The 4 I shot have brought the total up to 50goats in the last few months so not bad. Heres one more photo to end the story,Kevin took out the goat by the tree line under my supervision, some going for a 15 year old.

skycat 6,174
That's a bit different: like your safari LOL Terrain looks great: what other game is there around that area? There was a herd of wild goats in Cornwall when I was there as a kid: couldn't get near them, totally feral: wonder if they're still there.
