Changed mind at last minute

I sold my AA S410 in.22 yesterday as im a .177 convert and went down the gunshop this morning with the intension of buying a s410 in .177, I nearly walked away with one until I got the chap to chrono it 8.5 fpe straight outta the box (f**king bargain). I dont think so. Anyway this BSA R10 kept catching my eye so I thought why not, got it home mag wouldnt lock in, took it back to the shop he gave me a mag which locked in, went home mag wouldn't index, so back to the shop the owner phoned up BSA took original mag out back to workshop and took a drill to it, it now locks and indexes and so far so good everything seems to be working as it should, hopefully everthing will be alright now im gonna scope it up in a minute and get out hunting with it at the weekend i will let you know how I get on. PS can anyone recommend a good pellet for the R10 atb nasher

and pellet wise try the fx16 grains in 22 or fx 8.44 grains in 177 the rws superfields are good and this is a must try the 22 or 177 in falcon A plus 7.3 grains very light they are great pellets and even though they are very soft they do give a good whack matey been using them today and groups at 30mtrs was very good and with the rws superfields :thumbs:

Hi lads,

 

I have a R10 myself and it really likes FX pellets or Air Arms pellets.

 

Its very accurate with them and they have assisted me in shooting some vermin with the rifle up to modest ranges.

I'm not having a good time with mine been back to the shop five times since yesterday and got to go back tommorow, I had mag problems at first and that was sorted, I've now got silencer alignment problems, I zeroed it without a silencer and it was pellet on pellet put a wierauch silencer on it and knackered its so bad you would be better off throwing a brick, I took it back today and asked for my money back but he convinced me to try another silencer and said if theres a problem he will take the gun and get it working, so I took the gun home and put the modertor on and it looked straight but when I pulled the trigger I nearly missed the backstop, its spraying pellets worse than before and if you look in the end of the mod you can see the damage, I'm gonna take it back tommorow but I really feel like I'm having my pants pulled down on this one, for how much these guns cost its got to work straight out of the box, you expect it from a £40 SMK but not from something you've just shelled out nearly £600 for, rant over atb nasher

I did ask for a new gun today but he wouldnt do it the conversation got quite heated thats when he offered a new silencer and said he would make it fit if it still clips, he was adament I wasn't getting a refund or another gun as he said the gun was now secondhand, I will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

You should still be covered under the consumer act mate a FULL refund has to be given if the good arent doing what theyre designed to do.

On your next visit if you still cant reason with him just mention the consumer rights act and trading standards, I think he may see reason!

 

Then name and shame him on here for bad customer service so noone else gets stung!

Well the thing is since I last posted I have been firing the gun with just the muzzle brake at my 15 yard garden target and im beginning to really like the gun so tomorrow if he can just sort the silencer out I will be a happy chap im just getting a little stressed at spending so much time down the shop when i promised the missus a DIY week as i havent got a job on till next week, so at the mo nobodys happy

Mate, don't let him f##k you around!

 

Under the Sale of Goods act, anything he sells must be three things.

 

Firstly, it should be substantially as described. So if he says new and it's been used that's a breach and you can demand your money back, or a replacement to the original description.

 

Secondly, it should be of reasonable quality. So it should last for a reasonable amount of time without breaking, and should work with any accessories supplied with it.

 

Thirdly it should be fit for purpose. This would be where you get him. If you can't put pellets where you want, with a moderator fitted, then it's no good as a hunting tool. The fact that you can do it without the mod means it's definitely the rifle not you being a crap shot! ;)

 

He can offer to try and fix it, or replace it, but you don't have to accept this. And if you do choose to accept, and still it's not sorted out, then you still have the absolute right to a refund. What he does with the gun afterwards is his problem, not yours!

 

Tell him that you'll give him one more chance to remedy the problem by fixing the original rifle. If he can't fix it, then tell him that you want a refund, in full, of everything you've paid him, or a complete new rifle.

 

If he refuses, mention the "sale of goods" act. Also tell him that you will be in contact with trading standards.

 

If all of that fails, then you have the option of taking him to small claims court, but that's a different issue, we won't worry about that one unless he misbehaves.

 

As an aside, did you pay for the rifle on a credit card? If something costs more than £100 you should always try and put at least some of it on a credit card, even only £1, as the credit card company is then jointly liable, and you can claim against them if you get no satisfaction from the dealer.

 

Who is this bloke, and where is he? I like a good argument, could pop in with you and have a few words in his shell like! ;)

Mate I can understand you liking the rifle without the silencer fitted etc, as the R10 is a brilliant rifle when it works correctly and is extremely accurate if matched with the right pellet for the barrel.

 

I have one and have been very lucky with mine never to have 1 single problem with it.

 

This said I have now heard of many people like you that have problems with it and keep sending it back and forwards to different places etc to get fixed or niggles altered.

 

It shouldn’t work like that mate and if you bought the rifle new it should function like a new rifle, nothing less.

If you have faulty goods

The first thing to do is act quickly. Tell the trader about the problems, either by going back to the shop, telephone or writing. You should stop using the goods. The law says you should be given a ‘reasonable’ length of time to examine the goods and check they are satisfactory. What is a reasonable time depends on the individual circumstances but it might not be very long and can be as little as a week or so.

Your legal rights

You have 2 options to choose from. Both these options give you 6 years to start a legal claim under the Sale of Goods Act.

You can ‘reject’ the goods and get your money back if you have complained within a reasonable period of time from purchase. If you have acted quickly, and allow the trader to repair the item, you may still have the right to get your money back if the repair does not work.

If you tell the trader too late to get your money back you can still insist on compensation for ‘loss of value’ (normally the cost of repairing the product). In practice, the trader may offer to carry out the repair.

It is for you to prove the goods are defective with this option.

Since 31st March 2003 the law gives you another option for goods purchased after this date. You can request a repair or replacement. If the item cannot be repaired or replaced or if this is considered too costly, taking into account the type of fault, you have the right to some or all of your money back.

Within the first six months, it is for the trader to show the product was not faulty when purchased.

The goods become yours only when delivered and not before.

You can rely on public statements made by the seller or manufacturer that influence your purchase, e.g. information in adverts, leaflets or on the internet.

 

Mate don’t let this bloke take the p-ss out of you.

 

If he continues phone the trading standards up and they will give him a call. He will soon give you your money back when they threaten to take his selling license away.
