bad night at the stables...

well i went over to the stables tonight,after rushingout the house i got there fine and feeling confident so i checked zero as i havent taken the R10 out for a few weeks since getting the evo and maisie musket.it was right out-3" up and 1" to the right, ok, no problem thats sorted so off i go and settle down at one end of a very active bit of hedgerow(aint been up the sta9bles for a month) and took out a kit at about 15 yds off the bipod then targeted a 3/4 grown un about 40 yds(like i said, i was on the bipod ) and dropped him too.

 

so up i gets and wander over to the other side of the permission and settled down at another busyish hedge after saying hi to one of the mares cos shes well friendly, got another3/4 grown un in my sights took the shot and missed completely, i'm not even sure where it went! this is a bit funny i thought and indexed the next pellet, or tried as the mag jammed so i sorted that quick and took aim at a kit about 25 yds away and again missed...

 

so i got up and went to the car to check the mag,i thought that was ok once i checked the new 'o' rings in it and went to make sure the scope mounts were tight- couldnt find my allen key set to check the grub screws cos it was still in the evo's case... borrowed some allen keys off the stable owner, scope was fine so i checked zero again which was now 3" too low and an inch to the right again so i reset the scope tried to index the mag and had a bit of a struggle cock windageing it,this went on for two mags worth of zeroing, never quite able to get it quite right almost like the gun was canted with phantom windage going one side or t'other of zero...

 

" and it then !"i went home stripped the mag, realised i hadnt wound the spring tight enough,swore heavily for 5 minutes without repeating myself,cleaned the barrel(just in case)looked out the window and realised it was too dark to rezero the gun so i sat down to write up my crappy self inflicted thru bloody ignorance night and prepare to get the stick i rightly deserve for my efforts

 

well i knowhow to reassemble a mag now. but i had the hump and forgot to pick up my kills so i couldnt even photo em as a consolation prize...

 

still, i'll hopefully have time to zero it in the morning but i've got to do a tat based on clash of the titans so its an early start for me now.

so you had a bad night then matey i thought you wasnt going out after we chatted on the phone you trying to get a sly one over me lol sorry to hear about your night though but as davy says we do have one ask si i went to the golf course with this new hawke scope and tried to zero it in and and then phoned si crying like a baby but with si he said hummm you might need to pack the back of the scope mount hummm then he told me how to do it and the next zero'd in at 30mtrs spot on but i had been trying for about 45 minute before i phoned si lol and top bloke he phoned me back while he was at work for a good hour telling me how to fix the problem matey so i feel ya pain wurz buddy

Anyhow, it may have been a bit of a crappy night, but you scored well with them there bunnies that you forgot to pick up, not to mention a "Well friendy Mare" nudge nudge wink wink!

Does the husband or her dad know about her friendlyness :laugh:

 

Tell you what though buddy, I wish my crappy sessions netted me two kills even one would be a bonus on my crappy sessions.

cheers lads, i'll feel better when its stopped rainin enough to rezero and check that was all the problem was

 

@ shay, what can i say mate, the nice turn of weather turned me plans around buddy, but it was nice to have a natter mate

 

@ phanton, shes got lovely teeth and a bright eye, what more can i say... and getting 2 is a good night on some of my other permissions mate, believe me!!

nice shooting bud,shame about leaving them behind mate..i am haveing trouble with my mag jamming at moment got to go and get it sorted today at the shop where i got the gun from..the only thing is the shop owner is a missible git so i can see it being fun...
