well i been kinda busy over the last week or so, went to bisley for an open day last saturday where i spent the day shooting 1000yd target rifles in 7.62(nice groups, all in the bull),single shot m16 clones(alright, but not that nice a gun to be honest) and my favourite rifles of all, the mighty .303 smle and mk4 lee enfields(yum!!)before hitting the vintage airguns and bell target shootingwhich has awoken a desire to hunt with an old lincoln jefferies(if i can find one in .25)...

went to wales to work the newport tattoo show, and came back to an offer i couldnt refuse-did i want a theoben evolution .22 gas ram break barrel for a very good price?

hmmmm....

less than a micro second later i handed over my pocket money and became the proud owner of this 'un...

so last night i put a new scope to replace the smk effort that was on it and went up the valley to zero it and get used to the recoil of it,since i normally shoot my R10ch, a pcp. 30 or so shots later i'm buzzing to be shooting well enough with what feels like a 'proper' airgun after all its been a damn long time since i shot any kind of springer, but it feels great and i'm feeling well confident so i take a wander down the side of the hedge, and 200yds later i've got a 3/4 grown young un in the simmons diamond cross hairs. :clapper: after a 20ish yds stander down she goes and the dogs off to make sure of my efforts and is disapointed as ever to find her stone dead... :gunsmilie: its about now i realise that i havent got a camera on me to show the results, a clean headshot between eye and the base of the ear. sorry fellas!! :icon_redface::whistling:

in the absense of any evidence of the evo's first kill, i've also been out with the R10ch a few times so heres the results from those trips, most being kneelers between 25-30 yds, not the greatest distances ever shot but i know i'm definitely gonna hit at these ranges...

@ stealthy, mate i know just what you mean, and luckily the missus doesnt mind me spending days and nights on end up there!

@ phantom, to be honest it seems to shoot more like a real rifle, the recoils one way and she locks on as fast as you like, or it feels that way to me mate.. :icon_redface: .oh yeah, at least the socks were hole free eh lol

@ shay, cheers matey, i'll let you know how the evo goes over the next few trips with her-hows that ultra buddy? bet it becomes your most used 'just pick up n go shootin' gun over the next few months mate!

cheers lads, its gotta be my favourite place in the world to be so its nice to read your comments on it.

@davy, i dunno what club it was holding the open day cos the day got organised by a pal i'd been in south africa with on an anti poaching course earlier in the year, but i thought it must've been the entire place running it cos you could have a go at just about any discipine you could think of. and i still ended up shooting airguns!! :clapper:

the valleys called anchor valley by the way, i'll put up a view from the other end one morning cos it its the best view in sussex, over the river ada looking at chanctonbury ring, just awesome...

luckily the mixy seems to be staying at one end at the mo, with a little help from yours truely :whistling::gunsmilie: ...

all the very best lads,
