feeding on my ferret?

I,ve got two strong hobs about 18 months old and are in dam good shape, though over the last couple of days i've noticed that one of them has a small tick or parasite on its back. It looks as though its blood red and is only tiny at the minute but what is it and how can i get shut?????

Are you sure its not a bite mark from where they've been nobbing eachother?

If its flat it wont be a tick

its not flat or a scab from them nobbing, it stands out of the skin just big enough for it to be pulled off if i was sure it wouldn't leave anything behind.

If its a tick wont it have fallen off by now if its had its fill of blood

get some front line that does the trick you could use a tick twister but i find some times it leaves the head

 

i once seen a dog become temporarily paralyzed because of a tick

is it somthing that looks atached to the ferret?

if so it likley to be a tick.

the following options are available

1.use a tick remover available from most pet shops about £3.50 and twist anti clock wise.

2. use petoleum jully or vasaline and smother the tick this stops it from breeding and will fall off.

3 use front line spray this will kill the tick and any eggs laid within 7 days.

i tend to use options 1 and 3 when geting any in the rescue with ticks.

they don't always do that matey, some can 'stck' around for a good while

well what ever it was has burst after some furious play fighting probably leaving behind what held it on the skin, not sure if thats good news or bad??????????????????????
