Do you think it caught that badger by itself or was it roadkill or natural causes?

thats nature for you its just unlucky for the dog owner but its as much right to be there as he as,and in the eyes of the buzzard its fair game

not road kill it was in a field unless it got hit and managed to skramble off i dont think one of those would be able to kill a badger

Obviously the pup was not under proper supervision, And how dare they release vulnerable animals back into their natural habitat if I don't want them there!...........Wanker

This was always going to happen.

 

Where i live the boom in raptor population has more to do with the lazy local shoots who lay down thousands of ducks, pheasant and partridges on land that is too small with insufficent cover and then piss and moan when a small percentage are nabbed. More are killed on the bloody roads than are eaten by birds of prey.

 

You can also see it coming, shoot on site you say? im sure the lads on the falconry section of the site will be really happy with you blasting their pride and joy out of the air! Nice.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe it got hit by a car and the buzzard was just filling up while he had the chance.

On a cold day out predator calling I laid down in the mid-day sun and had a nap. I was awakened by the sound of flapping wing's - there was several buzzards circling very low so I remained motionless and and allowed two of them to land as they hopped closer to take a peck at me I grabbed one by the legs and it pecked at my gloved hand and ripped a hole in my jacket arm. I let go and it flew off they are tough basterds..... I remember how strong the lift was when it was flapping to escape - powerful birds.

theres a elkhound breeder on the hereford/welesh border that had buzzards pay interest in her pups a few years ago,

now the runs are covered and pups are only out on the lawn with somone sat at a bench as at £650 a pup it will be expensive meal.
