stormyboy 1,352
I've heard some opinions that polecat ferrets work better and deeper than whites. My best have been whites, but i have had more of them. (just personal preference-easier to see in cover.)Ive seen good workers of both types. Whats your opinion and why? Quote Link to post
theferreter 311
colour has no part to play in a ferrets working ability but i perefer using poleys myself mate Quote Link to post
zachrussell 1
I think its down to the experience of the ferret,I personally don't think colour has got anything to do with it. When i last went out ferreting my mate had a young white ferret and polecat coloured ferret and i found that the polecat ferret was much better just because she had much more experience. I suppose the determination of the ferret also plays a role. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
POLECATS RULE Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
Below ground, lets face it any animal is in the same boat, virtually no light, and being a poley or white or anything in-between makes no difference. I will be going back to dopey red eyes when i breed again. They are much easier to handle and catch up. The black eye's though i also admire, they do take a little settling down, but it's amusing to watch them follow a dog above ground. Quote Link to post
shepp 2,285
They are the same ferrets, i have an albino hob and poley from the same litter and they are carbon copies except for the colour. Quote Link to post
paddy polecat 129
Colours make no difference in a ferrets working ability, some people prefer albinos or bews because they're easy to see in undergrowth etc, I personally could'nt care what colour the ferrets are as long as they're good workers, but i did have a very dark polecat colour Jill (which was stolen on me just a few weeks ago ) and I have to say it was the best looking ferret i've ever had. Ideation 8,216
Seen good ferrets of every type and also ad ferrets of every type. Like above i have different colored ferrets from the same litter . . . . . ultimately if from working lines it comes down to individual ferret but more importantly the ferreter. Many many bad ferrets would have been good ferrets in better hands. jmo. atb Jai. Quote Link to post

max abell 196
We have got whites poleys a sandy and a silver and there is no difference in working ability I personaly prefere the whites only because they are easier to see when working in cover we breed the best workers together to get good ferrets no matter what colour they are Quote Link to post
romany52 313
They should all be the same under there jacket WORKERS Don't want to pee on anybody,s chips but research shows that albino ferrets have genetic proplems which effects both their sight and hearing, so they're not quite the same. ulverston moocher 60
All just personal preference, albinos are good to see in low light under dikes and if moonlight ferreting but our polecats have been a bloody god send in all this snow Quote Link to post
