scent 509
I hope this is deep enough!! I don't know exactly how deep this was ( befor B&F )it went of the box and MORE THAN 28 FEET! Everything by hand and took us ( 3 people!) 2 days The deeper we got , the harder it became! It was a dig I will never forget!! imagine putting a terrier in there surely you must have had an idea of that , good work anyway yis chancer At the end of the day, what looks shallow could go very deep, even the earth which are dug for years can hold a deeper spot unknown of. Anyone that isnt prepared to dig a good depth really should find another pursuit for follow give me a high 5 pal 1 Quote Link to post

Molie1337 35
This is nothing compared to some digs on here, but it was memorable! One of the lurchers ran a fox to ground late in the day, it was snowy and extremely cold, 6ish foot of solid chalk later and we got the terrier and her fox. most of the dig was in the dark, taking it in turns to keep warm! I have had a dig in chalk on a steep bank that was pushing 8 foot, that was tough, but the backfill was tougher! no photo's of that one im afraid! Oh how i wish it was winter! stevie g 2005 125
Its when your diging to quarry that has been dug before and dont want to be dug again thats when the dog is tested.Dog has'nt got a tape measure down with him he dont know what dept it is. Agree with ye there fella but when something has been dug before and its at 3ft or 4ft the dogs obviously tested less than something at 8ft or 10ft ,the depth aint the factor its the time the dogs to its quarry i think the lads are trying to say Dog should still hold its quarry until dug to,dont matter what dept or how long it takes, let it be 5ft or 5 hours they should still be there at the end. i wiil take 2 of them lol Quote Link to post
alan626 305
Eight feet, dug solo, at night, in a serious snow storm, on federal land, and not a hole dug by choice. The ground was rooty but not rocky, and the dog was fine even if my bits and pieces were pretty well frozen. It's not easy to see under such conditions -- there is the dark of course, and the light bounces off the snow flakes and is obscured by the fog of your breath. P i did the same on xmas eve on the way home after having a good day wit 2 good digs we were in the last field going back to the van when one of the dogs disapeard stuck on the box and the best reading we got 2.6 under an old rail way line we rang a friend to come wit chain saw it was lashing snow and we were freezing waiting on the lad wit chain saw again we broke trough it was 12.15 seem it was xmas we let the pair of foxes run for another day i had an hours driving home had to do santy and drink a stout eat some cookies leave some half eating carrots in the garden and then bed :lazy: Quote Link to post
rabbit slayer 22
My deepest last season was 3.6 meters on the b&f to a big fellow. First metere or so was easy enough then hit hard shale then a sort of iron stone. The bitch did well. I have pics but dont know how to get them on. Had a bad run last season of deep and difficult digs. Had my little bitch in on a place that was relitivly small only 3 holes. Got a mark at 1.8, took off the top then hit solid slate. The slate shelf was about 8-9 inches thick and was a real b**stad to get through, got the bitch out after a few hours with a big un in the stop end. Quote Link to post
