the beddy whipet ive only seen one or two others in pictures but im smitten ,will be geting one in the future for ferriting , i have a plummer dog but hes verry excitable he marks well be it rat or rabit but the whole time hes got fox on his mind and if he could hed drag you acrross the countryside looking for them maybe its just because hes young and wiil settle next year i hope,

In my opinion mate, You'd be best with a whippet x beddie. They are said to be great ferreting dogs. They can also catch any rabbits that slip the nets or escape from unseen bolt holes. I've read about alot that bush pretty well so they'd catch a few in the cover aswell as being able to work in the open fields. They aren't too big either so wouldn't take up much space.

must admit i agree with you mate. even though i have my beardie cross[not a hancock in case anybody was thinking about abusing it] and a pure bedlington the best rabbiting dog i have ever owned was a whippet bedlington. marked,bushed and caught.

Seen a few whippet/beddies have to agree they can make good ferreting/bushing dogs...but must add if your using a dog just for ferreting i've seen a lot of breeds that can do a good job...one of the best i ever seen was a whippet/collie x spaniel that a mate of mine owned,if i could get a dog like her i'd be a happy chappy ...John

This young lady kelpie x whippet/gry is going to help me do a couple of simple sets tomorrow she is only 7 months old and bright as a button she will be covering nets but i wont over do it an hour at most.

I use a wee 10" tts jrt, but she started going down the holes.

 

Also have a collie and a terrierxspringer that both mark, but the terrier cross took a few years to settle. Both these dogs need rehoming if anyone is interested.
