Ferrets do us proud

Im writing this from my iPhone as we are travelling back.

Myself and Festa were invited to clear some land by a local farmer as he said he had a small rabbit infestation.

We arrived at the farm at 8am and after a quick cuppa we loaded up the quad & 4 x 4 and headed to the problem area. The first set was a small 5 holer after netting up in went the ferret. Within a few minutes we heard the telltale "thunder" and out shot the first rabbit of the day soon followed by 2 more.

 

Then on to the next set

 

This one was huge. After netting over 50 holes we entered 3 stinkers and they started their business.

After using the knocker we found one of the ferrets held up in one place 3 ft below. So we started the dig. Once down to the ferret she had 2 cornered in a stopend, that was another 2 for the bag. During the backfill 3 decided to bolt at the same time with ferrets hot on their tail, 2 were netted and the farmers terrier Jem took care of the other. Then they just kept coming.....

 

Total bag so far at dinnertime 21 clean rabbits 2 with mixy

 

after dinner we hit back again covering approx 2 sq mile knocking back another 5 sets we totalled over 38 clean rabbits and 6 mixy

 

not a bad day for 2nd time out this season
