Hancock breeds from any dogs he can get, ALL non workers.The only things he can guarantee, is , it will be a collie cross , in the dilution you require, and it will be a lurcher.Good lurchers are born from good breeding, not made by showing a lot of game, they have to have the prey drive in the first place. Next doors chihuaua, will chase squirrels, doesnt make it a good dog does it?

THE REASON WE WENT TO HANCOCK IS YOU GET WHAT IT SAYS, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING, I THINK ITS WHAT YOU DO WITH THE DOG WHEN YOU GET IT HOME, I SPOKE TO A LAD A WHILE BACK AND HE SAID HOW DO YOU GET YOUR DOG TO RETRIEVE, I TOLD HIM YOU TRAIN THEM AS PUPS(I KNOW SOME DOGS DO IT WITHOUT TRAINING) BUT HE THOUGHT COS IT SAID WHEN HE BOUGHT THE DOG BOTH PARENTS RETRIEVE LIVE TO HAND ALL THE PUPS WOULD DO THE SAME. I OWN A HANCOCK BITCH WITCH TAKES ALL GAME BEFORE THE BAN SHES 3/4 GREYHOUND 1/4 BEARDIE. HAD NO PROBLEM AT ALL WITH IT AND MY WIFE OWNED ONE FOR 14 YEARS SAME BREEDING AND THAT TOOK EVERY THING, BUT I STILL THINK HE BREEDS FAR TOO MANY DOGS, YOU CAN RING UP ANY TIME AND HE HAS A LITTER, HERES MINE. jeff

hi matey , lurcher,s chase naturaly , rabbits run lurcher chases, yer dog sooner or later will get the knack , it ain,t hard , you may not get a world beater but but how many people have , oh sorry every body thinks they have , , yer have yer lurcher to do what its needed, for donkey,s years i caught all quarry, as use to always keep terrier,s. you can run rabbits with a greyhound. and yes bred out of good stock is al ways best , but all the greyhounds will chase rabbits so half yer battle is done, yer add to improve, as in a collie to give it brain,s , my german shepard use to run rabbits . a good line as got to start some where , and to start yer get yer a greyhound lol, add what yer want . there are loads of 1/2 crosses that are brill , then people have same again , a half cross is what , lol yes a greyhound put toanother breed , when i was kid me mates whippet got puped by a street mungrel , and guess what it caught rabbits , . so how , because of the whippet. . what funny is lurchers will catch rabbits show it loads and they will become good at it , people have diferent lurchers to what they like . get yer pup, and rear it and work it , .

but its just the same in any hobby , people moan and bitch about it , f**k it just enjoy , .

these sites was fun at first but its just full of of people who knock every body,s dog ,s and moan , . whats the point in saying anything as people critisize , the easy way get yer pup, wipe these sites off and enjoy yer hunting , instead of listening to the kill joys .

lads....weather hancock bred dogs are good or bad is not the point,theres good and bad in all breeds,i got one that is retired at my parents,a half cross he was good on all quarry,but i wouldnt get one of him again for this reason....

hancock is a puppy farmer,his dogs are left in kennels all their lives,they are not walked or trained to any type of standard,the sooner people stop getting pups of him the sooner the breed will get better,pups should be bred out true workers and not any old rubbish...i will not incourage puppy farming

There is more to training a lurcher than teaching it to chase.I'm sure you'll get to know this soon savageboy when you start stock training mate( you do know about stock training do you?). I know from the posts you have posted on the varous forums mate that you seemingly know next to feck all about dogs, asking allsorts of stupid feckin questions. Now your an expert telling everyone else who have probally forgot more than you know. I don't want to fall out with anyone at all, but training any dog is an ongoing task from when you first get the pup to the day it retires. It's not easy to train a dog it takes many long hour and alot of patience.

And IMO if you take your time your efforts will be rewarded tenfold.

IMO i would never recommend anyone to go and buy a dog from hancock, he's just a puppy pedler as mentioned in this thread earlier i'd sooner buy from working lines where the pups have been socialised.

Went to Hancocks kennels in 91 when I was a teenager and thought at the time how does he test any of his dogs I think there are enough well bred dogs that will jack or not make the grade so why increase the risk by breeding from parents that are not fully tested in the field

over 20 years matey ,and had a good life with me lurchers and terrier,s , but not had em for last 5 years, so just getting back ionto it , but this time won,t be as hard core as last time , i was hunting mad , was out all the time , use to keep 3 / 4 terriers on the go as they saw a lot of work and me lurcher always came as used to draw or catch after they bolted by terrier,s . but not havin any terriers just keep to ferrets and lamping. and me gun,s cheers savageboy

are hancock dogs bred from proven workers NO ... are they kept in clean healthy pens NO ... are they correctly wormed as pups NO ... are they fed a nutritiouse balanced meal NO .... are sociolised in way shape or form NO ... are they introduced to other animals cars etc as they go through the learning period as a pup NO .... the list is endless ..... so why why why do you people keep singing his praises ??????????????

on retriving yer train yer dog,, what i mean chasing is natural, , one of my lurchers use to retrive all rabbits back but on hares use to bring them backand stop about 5 feet off me , never right but rabbits no problem , but i never had a hare dog , just lurchers that will catch the odd ones , i don,t go hare coursing , thtas why i think yer better off havin a pup , rear it put the effort in chasing rabbits is not that much of a problem ,and if yer on big fields then its easy , some of the places i use to huntsome field were hard , as in loads of rough stuff , where the rabbit can be gone in a second . but win some lose some , i use enjoy catch a few rabbits every time we went out , if yer dunna catch its no loss , the fun is working yer dogs ,thats why i like an all rounder as use to do loads of terrier work, when i was young i would not go work for over 10 years , lol, as to busy hunting i was hunting mad. it was my life
