stealthy1 3,964
Yo airginners, a rareity this evening, the sun was out Been back on the bull fields this evening, trying to wittle down a large warren burried in some thick blackthorn bushes, the first time I saw this warren I thought it was a ferreters dream, it looked like the warrens you dream about while you sleep at night, but after putting down two ferrets last season, and having them both kill under, I realised it was a nightmare, the locator showed seven feet deep, and after a short dig it got worse, barbed wire, blocks of concrete to big to lift, sheets of broken glass, broken bottles, and its fair share of rotten rusty barrels and sheets of rusty metal, to say I was glad when the ferrets came up top was an understatement so I now shoot this warren only, its bordered by some land that I dont have permission on, but I keep trying to gain access to it, and if it takes my last breath, I will shoot it legaly, there are loads of rabbits on the other side, purely because they know I cant shoot them But thier time will come Anyway, the spot I chose to shoot from was in a dyke, the hedgerow that stood along it had long gone, and now its just like two grassy banks, its a really nice spot, what I do is get myself in the dyke with just my elbows and my head stuck above it, resting the gun on the flat top of the bank, very handy spot if you need a p*ss, slide down the bank, p*ss, slide back up again, no disturbance to your quarry From the top of the bank your looking at shots of 40 yards to a hedge under a big tree, so a good zero session is called for to get your eye in, if you dont and you miss a couple, its game over, because they thump like f*ck and that upsets the other warren dwellers, and there's no point making life hard for your self eh! Here is a pick of what it looks like from the dyke. You can see what I mean about the nice spot What I try to do is leave the ones I've shot, unless the live ones look spooked by thier dead buddies, in which case I'll gather them up, its a bit of a challenge on this warren because the rabbits are constantly moving between large thistles, which makes for harder shots, but then its nice to have a bit of a challenge every now and then, but not if your the type that gets wound up easily like my mate Dorey. I managed four shots at the bunnies this evening, due to going originally to the other side of the field, but the bulls kept tw@ting about, so I left them to it and moved here. Anyway, after getting set up, I watched some rabbits running around in circles in front of me that were way out of range, but as you know, its not long before other bunnies see them and think its safe to come out So buck toothed raider numbe one stuck its head out to see who was about, should have looked harder, as a superdome slapped him around the head, one up. The dust settled, and another rabbit came out to look for his mate, not very observent these rabbits, as another superdome slapped him too, two up. I was thinking about a quick move, as I could hear the beef burger gang getting nearer, seriously though, their like a party of mongs on a school trip that have lost there teacher, friendly as f*ck, but just to strong and clumsy for there own good I looked towards the hedge to see to very small scurries sat side by side under a thistle, but they were to small even to make gravy out of Patience paid off when dad jumped out behind them, there he was sat there giving it large, so I spanked him with a superdome just to p*ss him off, which it did, perminently Three up, a quick look over my shouder revealed the mongs happily chasing each other around the water trogh, I was just about to nip off for a slash when bunnie number four poked his head out from behind a big thistle, whack! Another nice bunny joins his mates in the bag, another look over my shoulder saw the mongs heading in my direction, there's no point hanging around when they turn up, because they dont get bored sniffing and dribbling snot all over you, so I packed up, I only needed four to feed the ferrets and the dogs, so not a problem, I left the mongs nowing full well I'd have the last laugh, when they turned up in Tesco's, COOP, Sainsbury's and those 99p meals you get in Heron End of session shot! Keep whacking. stealthy. 1 Quote Link to post
