i broke the top of my fixed blade knife yesterday and I need a replacement,any one got any idea where best to buy a decent hard wearing knife,big enough for deer,rabbit etc.A general all round tough blade.Ive looked in town but nothing of real quality.Anyone make knives to order in Ireland?

Check out the British Blades forum, some awesome stuff there, true culinary art!

 

& the best thing is most of the folk on there are making them for a hobby to be used for the purpose they were intended,, plenty of good deals on there.

thanks people,any one know if theres restrictions bringing in knives from another country in the post?i was on british blades today but i havent a clue where you start there,some ammount of knives for sale but most are well over £100 sterling.i'll stick up a post there and see what replies i get.BUSTER,i think i'll change the avatar soon,getting itchy for a new one.But for £200 an hour she can be all yours.what a lovely thought,lol.

Jig you wont go wrong with a frost clipper pal, cheap as chips and very very good........they are about £7 each!!!

 

They will take an edge again and again and at £7 you dont give a monkeys if you loose it........they sound exactly the same as the green handled jobby that grant mentioned maybe someone just charged £28 for it!!

took a good piece out of it mal,droped it in tiles in the kitchen,fcukin raging with myself i was,i had it around 3 years and it was a good tool.clumsy barsteward i am.

Yeah.

Frost/Mora for me as well, not the clipper, but the other cheap one.

That coupled with a bladetech knife sharpener, great edge, very sharp.

Cracking bit of kit.
