TOMO 28,404
So were looking at say 10 hours of lamping 10 rabbits an hour one rabbit every 6 minutes! Dream on lads! the 45 i did with me little bitch were taken in 2 hours 30 mins mind you that aint 100 Tomo I hope you have entered the new lamping competition, and face reality I thought you were of sound mind when I saw you on the other hunting forum this super dog has not been bred yet, maybe some day it will arrive were you can give him a drink, of diesel or some rocket fuel, but at this moment it is only blood that is pumping through those viens, and heart the same as every other good working dog, so maybe we can stop all this bullshit, that is why I always prefered the daylight, the bullshit stops when the dog is on behind the best little warrior of all the hare, border lad, up until now, "your last post" your input into this little debate as been brilliant, please dont turn this into a silly girly slagging match, (please, keep hares out of this, two differences all together) and I really do like your views and I'm sure you and I are both on the same wave length with this 100 bunny thing. Tomo has never ever said he has seen the ton caught by one dog. I do believe TOMO will have caught the amount of rabbits in that time he said he has. But TOMO you are a long way from ONE HUNDRED WITH ONE DOG. If man and dog catch 70, its a fantastic night, but he still has 30 left to catch, and 30 is a reality figure most of us lurcher lads ever achieve with one dog. Most nights anyway. Regards warren yes a very long way from 100 with one dog anyway,, im quietly confident me and the youg lad will do it this season with our 2 dogs mind you i thought we would last season Quote Link to post
SMART DOG 340
Im not saying it cant be done but i would like to see the dog that could do 100 rabbits in one nite me and my mate regular way get well into 50+ mark with 2 dogs on good ground the best with one dog in a short space of time was my little dog did 17 in one little field in about ten mins Quote Link to post
foxfan 479
CW you speak wise words now as always, At the start of this thread, i said about "back then" and you were saying the same then. F*ck the numbers game. its for those who want their gonads massaged ! Enjoy your dog and enjoy nature. Quote Link to post
Guest lurchers&terriers
i dont know why people find this hard to believe. rabbits are easy and any lurcher will catch a few, a good lurcher will catch a big haul were a top class lurcher will catch as many as you throw at it. Providing the dog is real fit and the rabbits are there, whats stopping it doing a ton? i think most the ones who disagree are going by there own dogs capabilities. sorry not meant to offend, just my opinion Quote Link to post
shaun v 3
this question is to the guys who say they managed that figure, what condition was the dog in and what was it like mentally after such a thing ? i would imagine it would sicken after a while back in abit, going 4 curry n lager mmmmmmmmmmmm Edited June 12, 2009 by shaun v Quote Link to post

storm323 191
thats why i said you would need a few hot spots so the dog is used to it ,not just go from catching 50 then double it the next night you would work your way up i would like to test my dog when shes older but i think i would need to live up england way where the numbers are there.theirs no hope around my way good hunting and well said CHALKWARREN words of a wise man Quote Link to post
Guest warren
ok , you dont belive me , thats your choise this will realy upset ya then , the in the photo taken with 2 dogs was about 4 hour tomo that does not upset me at all I LOVE A GOOD DOG, but when people start talking rubbish what do you want me to do start to believe what they are saying, when I know it is not the truth, there is some very knowlegeable, people on this site, and I have met a couple, of top class dog men along with there dogs, and if you are going to get rid of the puppy pedlars, and clean up the site, the truth starts here, stop the bullshit and get back down to good genuine conversation, sure a bit of banter is good for everyone, and have genuine competitions, and see who really has the top dog, that is always the way I have worked in business or in sport, thank you all, : Good words... Now,..nobody hates a bullshitter more than me,... Such lying vermin RUIN the cause of the Lurcherman....and they are an insult to one's intelligence... As for the Fabled 100... Well,..I obviously have an opinion,.but,..for various reasons,.I'll keep it short and sweet..... Personality,..I have never seen a single dog take a 100 rabbits on the lamp... BUT,..I would NEVER say that it cannot be achieved....and once again,.I have my own reasons for stating this. I am nearing my 60th year and several decades ago I made it my business to seek out various 'living legends'' and similar notoriety (I still do this, and I regularly travel throughout the UK to meet genuine enthusiasts).... Sadly,..VERY FEW are what they seem.... However,..getting back to the original question,... I have taken many,.many 50's with a single lurcher,..and once I caught over seventy conies... This was achieved back in the 1980's and to be truthful,..all the conditions,..and the jukel were perfect... I will say no more,...other than to mention the phrase that Plummer once uttered to me regarding the mathematical impossibility of any man being able to 'live off his lurcher, and pay the mortgage',... I replied by assuring him of the fact that I believed 100%,.. 'that HE could not achieve such a feat'.... It is a big old world out there,...and whilst I would urge young guys to examine spurious claims and treat boasts made by certain lads with the utmost caution,...lets not become jaded and always keep an open mind..... One hundred rabbits or one rabbit,...its all for the craic,..and life really is too short,....trust me,.I know... All the best to ALL crosses,....kind regards,...CHALKWARREN... As always CHALKWARREN wise words and I for one always value your views. I do admire you for travelling far and wide seeking out the big names in lurcherdom, thats one way of finding your opiniong of who really are the real deal legends. Unlike yourself I never traveled to see such men, however, I have over the years invited quiet a few so called living legends here, up to the Dales and I must say, just like yourself I have found they are no differnt to most of the dog lads and lassess reading this thread and if I was to be totally honest, not of one of them has ever brought a decent dog, certainly not a dog I would keep in my kennel. foxfan 479
its been done end of. as for carrying them, you just keep dropping off evry 20 -30. weather lads wil do it now, is debatable, i dont think most lads have the mental and physical staminar to keep pushing on . most lads are happy to get 20 or so. Ok Tomo. Have you seriously tried carrying 15-20 rabbits whilst working a dog ? Perhaps you can take 3 non hunters with you, just to carry the game ? Quote Link to post
shaun v 3
would imagine the dog would need to be mentally strong to cope with the repetativness of running that amount how many dogs have been spoilt trying to get that so called magical number ????/ Edited June 12, 2009 by shaun v Quote Link to post
