The 2012 National Countrysports Fair was held at Moira Demense yesterday Saturday 26th and today Sunday 27th May. And what a 2 day family occassion this was. Moira Game Fair was the venue where the Gilford Lurcher and Terrier club held their 13TH Annual Dog Show, and this year as every other year was a roaring success. I was in the field from 9.30am, and by 11.30am there was very little parking place left.Cars and trailers arrived with dogs and family on board, and in a small space of time the field was buzzing with the laughter of children playing in the beautiful sunshine, parent partic

Had a great day yesterday at Gilford Lurcher and Terrier Club Annual Dog Show at Moira Game Fair. Thanks to Ian and Justin and team for a great day. A job well done. Had to go home early with work commitments,but still had a brilliant day. Thanks again.

We have been asked to consider other shows for qualifiers for the Master Mc Grath Challenge ( racing- two to qualify from each show) to take place on the 7th July at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle AND the Five Nations International Lurcher Championships ( Show Champion to qualify) at Birr Castle on the 26th August. Just had a day at the most built up fair this year...the weather was good, thats all i can say !! Lurcher show was as usual IN HOUSE judging with the same faces, the racing track is a fxxking disaster waiting to happen. didnt even get to do the high jump as there was that much faffing around the time ran out ! Sorry lads but this was very disappointin after all the hype. bring on florencecourt and the matts ! NO MUZZLES..SHOCKING !!

Please note the Director's NOVICE RACING Challenge - heats and Final at the Irish Game Fair on Saturday 7th July is ONLY OPEN to lurchers which HAVE NOT WON a race. We have been asked does this rule out winners of puppy races and we have ruled that for 2012 it does. The one exception to this is Kirsty Harpur's dog which won the first novice qualifying race at Birr before we changed the rules on qualifying. It will get a bye into the second round in its class BUT only after having to do a solo spin. The good news is that my fellow Director, Philip Lawton, on whose behalf I volunteere

My congratulations to all who ran in the various races and showed their dogs and the sporting manner in which most people accepted the results. My old man is going to the Moira gamefair this month he will be able to give some advice regarding Terrier clubs and also some info that some of the terrier guys may find usefull he will be on the SACS stand if any of the guys who have already contacted him pop by he can put faces to names and voices.
