  1. that's the google image of the fields set today,i aint got a helicopter to show the trap positions.
  2. http://i60.tinypic.com/2pshwqv.png
  3. maps worked fine today and regards it being wet I'll laminate them first and use a waterproof pen to mark the sites.Just nice to sit in the comfort of your own home and look at your days work regards the topography and where your traps are.
  4. Metal detector arrived and powering up tonight for the big search tomorrow.4 traps down and not to theft from what I can ascertain, just my senile old memory and failure to develop a method of recording where I put them. I have a plan however and will put it into play tomorrow when I put the second batch out. Google Earth zoom in to the intended fields and print a screen grab off, carry it with me and mark every location as they go in, other thing is no more than 15 in the bag at anytime as 15 seems to be the number which triggers brain default setting in me and I end up with a pissed off
  5. What area you got and what's the plan of action regards traps? Iv'e 20 talpex 20 duffus 5 talpas 6 nomolls and 4 traplines all waiting to go in the earth. No chance they'll all go out in the morning but hopefully the vast majority of them as they are no good sitting in buckets.
  6. The two traps iv'e later found have always been under cover wall and and whinnie bush, seems like they dig them up and run for cover then eat them out of the trap.
  7. Just caught up with this thread again sorry chaps. Decision made to pull the land as it's so close to a local tourist run and farmer is setting to lay this year instead of first cut silage. Not to worry though 4 cams going out tomorrow with a new set of silage land to go at. Chance to be mainly foxes caught I'd imagine, but be good to see how they dig up the traps and how far they go before dumping them.
  8. had the same thing meself a few year back PK.
  9. 5 days off and I'm now itching to get back out for some thinning.
  10. I've not had a talpex filled yet? obviously their behaviour will be different at present regards breeding.Dont think they tip each other off though regards where traps are lol.
  11. I'm back out tomorrow after a 5 day break, plan to get at least 40 out on the silage fields.
  12. Large setting tomorrow after a weeks worth of time spent on other jobs, tunnels and greenhouses fully sterile and gassed. Seed sowing starts on the 30th.
  13. 24hrs later here to begin with, then 48hrs later the second time every spot is different regards setting and checking.
  14. Take it this bloke is not well liked on here.
  15. DOES A MASTER BUTCHER HAVE ONLY ONE KNIFE?
  16. Cant comment on the Putanges as I've never used them.
  17. Iv'e caught with them but only in good going, talpex works in shite conditions regardless. Trapline sets will be my first come Tuesday.
  18. Cleared over 500 acre of first cut silage land with the above. Loads more to do once I do a reset on Tuesday.
  19. The talpex makes even me look a good hand at trapping. got 30 of them now and 15 duffus with 5 talpas (never bother with them much) 5 traplines and 6 nomolls only 3 in the bag now for fieldwork duffus, talpex and trapline.
  20. Just working out all be it off the top of the head percentage rates, duffus wins hands down but the talpex and them being new to me is catching up rapidly, a double trap in the correct place will always outdo a single in a difficult run.
  21. Duffus, talpex few other odds and sods is all I'll ever need.
  22. we had road closures and a complete covering up here today, it don't make the national press not that it's a worry to us eitherway. no badgers here just Basil on his rounds as usual.
  23. Not as bad as first expected and haven't drew blood yet, clever design with them and looking forward to getting them out next week once this snow goes.
