  5. down beside Cathkin Braes. Between Glasgow and East Kilbride. Not so many rabbits round the courses and the braes as there used to be.
  6. there were a few that ran with us when I was wee about 14 years ago in and around glasgow. Good looking dogs, game as well. A couple of nippy ones from what I remember. Be good to see some pics if anybody has some.
  7. After being layed of a few months back and working all over the shop to keep the bills getting paid, I am starting a new full time job in the next couple of weeks. As a result of working all over the place my dogs aint super fit and I havent been out much since the season started. I was wondering if any lads from Lanarkshire etc would be up for heading out next week to get a few runs under my belt before I have to get back into work. Cheers Brian
  8. I've got a 54 plate d22 71k miles on the clock. It runs like a dream but am now worried sick about this conrod thing especially when I'm driving the kids around in it. Want to get the bearings changed. Does anyone have any idea how much this will set me back roughly? Try the Knackered-Navara website mate, I am sure I saw a guy selling the bearings for £40, dont know about overall cost of fitting etc. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
  9. Absolute long shot but here we go I am looking for a toyota hilux but budget is a bit of an issue. However I just saw two ex council trucks on autotrader from derbyshire council. Do any of you folks know anyone from the council, or know anything about the trucks. Im in glasgow so it is a bit too far for me to pop over and have a look. Cheers
  10. Can anybody tell me about a good butcher or abattoir in Glasgow or South Lanarkshire that I could go to for dog mince, or off cuts etc. Every butcher I have tried say they buy the meat in mostly prepared so there is no "waste".
  11. wouldnt be giving him alot of walking at that age mate, even though its tempting. At that age my two were around 21" and 22" they are first cross. Is he first cross? Will take him a while to be fully grown as he has deerhound in him. Take it easy with him for a while yet
  12. Not knocking any type of cross, but if you are saying Bull X are superior to Deer, take a look at the number of cheap arse Bull Xs going and compare it to the number of Deer Xs!! See quite alot of these hard as nails Bull Xs that will take on anything, but look at the nick of their faces, alot of them take an absolute kicking in the process. Deerhounds aint surgeons in the field but from what I have seen they generally get the job done quickly. Spent a fair bit of time looking into this last year before making my decision to go with Deer X. But in the process of finding the right litte
  13. hope you dont mind mate, I had a wee play around with one of the pics what do you think
  14. Wow great pic, lovely dog, and Etive is a lovely lovely place, i was there in july... Cheers, I love Etive, my dogs loved the look of the deer kicking around!!! Gonnae spend a lot of next summer up that way. See how long we can make it fishing and hunting aroung there then back to the Glen to camp at night. Dunno if the mrs will fancy it though. The midges are horrendous.
  15. thats a great pic, I am sure I saw a documentary about them decapitating a whole hive of bees. They are stunning looking beasties. BTW was it carrying that 10p around with it, probably could have!!!
  16. Dont know whos the maddest Mrs or the dog.
  17. cheers will take a look. What kind of injuries do folks use antibiotics for, I would think feet as the can get infected easily. Also kennel cough. But am i right in think that you want to keep the use down to a minimum?
  18. Can anyone put me in touch with a reliable source for antibiotics, that wont cost as much as I am paying at the vet just now? Dogs both had pretty bad injuries on their feet and were given an initial course of antibiotics to keep infection away. Then they just got kennel cough last week, and vet charged me £50 total for 5 days worth (x2) and the consultation fee even though I knew it was kennel cough. cheers
  19. mine too, keep it clean, get it stitched and let it heal. Should heal pretty quick as long as the dog doesnt get at it.
  20. another couple They are around 32 tts and about 36kg I like the mix, one thrown more to the grey and the other more to the deerhound
  21. My two pups at different stages. Find one of them a bit difficult to train but seeing a difference now that I have started splitting them up. Good temperament in general. Wouldnt say that Deer/Grey are the most intelligent, but then I am thick as shit and wouldnt want a dog smarter than me.
  22. The dog will b able to tell the difference from a mile away. Get him broken anyway, as he might just fancy a pop at stock and deer anyway. Once he is broken he wont mistake a cow/sheep etc for a deer. Do you have any more pics of him, looks like a cracker.
  23. Should maybe change the title, if toughest is defined as taking alot of punishment, then it should be Toughest/Shitest/Least Efficient
