    Having moved further into the countryside I have gladly entered into more outdoor pursuits and have been shooting for about 2 months now. I have practiced religiously in the garden and have put about a thousand pellets into paper targets. It has always been my intention to try and get a permission, primarily to get some rabbits, which I like to eat.     I can wholeheartedly recommend the BSA Ultra SE. I picked mine up used, with scope, moderator and bag for £350, which would leave enough in your budget to buy a pump or a air cylinder.

    Like. Rez, I bought a Mountmaster on the spur of the moment and instantly was disappointed when I changed from a tasco 6-24x50 to a 3-9x50 Nikko. A week or 2 later I managed to pick up a used Panorama 4-12x50 AO and the optics are poles apart. I am no expert but just wanted to make sure you will be happy with the light levels on a 40mm scope. I've read a few people say they wished they'd gone for a 50 in hindsight.     I must admit I have double loaded my ultra twice this week. I usually am careful to snap the bolt all the way back but a couple of times I have fumbled the bolt, not got it all the way back and have assumed a pellet hasn't been loaded and then cocked it fully again. Fortunately on both occasions the pellets have come out cleanly and surprisingly have still hit the back stop with some force. Must remember to shoot if I fumble again.

    From my limited experience, I would say yes assuming it is in test (it will need to be to get refills) and has an appropriate valve on it with a whip (hose to connect it to the gun) and a bleed valve. A 300 bar cylinder would also be preferable to a 232 bar one as you will get more re-charges per fill. The gun or the valve (or both) will need to have a gauge on it so you can see what your fill pressure in the gun is. Hope that helps

    I watched a YouTube vid and the guy was zeroing a scope and recommended tapping the scope lightly with a small block of wood as the internals don't always move instantly when clicked. Don't know if this is nonsense, but I'd definitely give mine a tap just for the hell of it.

    A month or so ago I bought a 2nd hand BSA Ultra SE (not the MMC) which came with a Tasco 6-24x50 IR scope. Not having anything to compare it with, I have found the scope to be fine. It's been really easy to zero and I can group under an inch at around 25 yards using 10x mag as my default. However the scope is massively out of proportion for the gun and if it wasn't for the late HW moderator it would look comical. From a search on the web it would also appear the scope weighs about a kilo. I don't want to invest a huge amount (sub £100) at this point and it would seem that still gets me a

    Hi, I recently bought a used .22 SE and have probably put 200 pellets through it. I have noticed that when I get to loading the 9th pellet that the bolt often jams and I have to wiggle the magazine or manually rotate the "pellet wheel" while pushing the bolt to get the pellet in. On examining the magazine yesterday I observed that the spring that rotates the "pellet wheel" seems very week in its unloaded state and I am wondering whether this is not fully lining up the action on the last couple of pellets.     Hi all, I'm pretty new to this air gun lark, but have had the occasional go over the last 30 years. Having moved into a home in the edge of the beautiful Peak District I have embraced the big outdoors and want to eventually get good enough to have a go at hunting rabbits (for the pot, not just the hell of it).
