  1. Shorten your range to 10 yards and get stalking. Forget about 25 yards until you're spot on at 20 and forget 20 until you're spot on at 15. To be honest the majority of shots taken will be around the 10 yard mark. Practice at that range first and you can push things further as you go. With regards to the Saluki, you're on your own!!! You should've asked me before you bought it!!! Lol!! if i do the hour every day I get pretty accurate at ten yards. Maybe my unrealistic 25 yard approach is down to you guessed it? A very enthusiastic laddie bounding around. Hope fully with nice weather to com
  2. I'm happy just to hit one. Nice head shot!
  3. I had I jack Russell that hated black dogs! I had a staffy like that 20 year ago. There was loads of black mongrels that all looked the same ran about the streets in my area for years. The staffy had a battle with one of them one day. I am conviced it thought every black mung it seen in the street was the same one. if I saw a black dog of any kind I knew he was gonna go for it. He went till 21. Best dog I ever had. Only dog I know that was angrier after having his balls of.
  4. If I'm honest my dogs got a better chance of building that than I have!

  6. I want to make one so googled it. Apparently you all you need is a 1960 ford starter motor as it has a longer pin also a solanoid and a car battery. Will drag a lure at 35 mph or more. I just don't have the technical ability to construct it!
  7. Can't get pick up for some reason but here's a quick clip of my saluki.http://youtu.be/8WaRo0HMZbM
  8. I think I've figured out how to put photos up?
  9. So asking the wife about getting another dog the ferret idea didn't seem as bad so looking to get one. Should I look for a young ferret or does it not matter. If I was to get a young one how long before I can put him down a hole? Thanks
  10. I fancy trying my saluki x at lure coarsing but being unfamiliar with a lot of this don't know we're to start! Does anybody know any clubs in the Cambridgeshire area ? Thanks!
  11. Were I live there's a mass of swans which my saluki x grey some times chases. He got used to ignoring them more but the other day he ran up to one and grabbed it by the neck but just kept hold for a few moments. The swan was flapping but my lurcher just held on proudly. He then casually let go and came back to me. I'm in split minds. One im glad he didn't kill it as a lot of family's and kids around but secondly I was a little disappointed he didn't as he's a good chaser but not terribly blood thirsty. He done a similar thing with a cat in my garden. He pinned it with one paw and proceeded to
  12. Would I be able to get an 18 month old saluki x grey used to a ferret or is he to old ? Thanks !
  13. I have approached the idea of ferrets with the wife. Needless to say I'm not to hopefull of any moving in. I'm toying with the idea of getting a terrier now the seasons coming to an end.
  14. Thanks chaps! I would put a picture of him up but can't work out how. Maybe I'm as daft as the said animal. Are salukis a good family? He seems to Be had him about 18 months now and he's very keen he's a different dog when out despite his lack of experience. May have a wander out this afternoon.
  15. I have a 18 month old saluki collie greyhound x I think. He heards other dogs which does not always go down well. He's quick and turns well. He's regularly chasing just a length away sometimes less and not losing the chase but rarely seems to be the victor. I only started him last year so maybe he's still a little play full?
  16. My dog Is no super star and is only learning like myself. (I feel he's overtaken me) he never disappoints me though not to say he's a little clumsy and rarely gets his quarry as a beginner his effort always makes me proud. Some times he looks upon me as the failure for not finding him opportunities to shine. He's only 18 months and only has me too impress and he does that for sure. He shows signs of being useful possibly not a world beater though!
  17. I own a simple black widow and at 15 to 25 yards I'm 3 out of 5 on rabbit size target but that doesn't mean a head shot or kill shot so going to practice some more as don't fancy chasing a wounded animal around. Maybe laddie could pick it off for me (my saluki) he's also a little new to this. He has taken a few rabbits though. Yet to bring back to me though. Time will tell!
  18. Hi I'm new to owning lurchers and got a great salukix last year. He's a great family dog and been told he shows potential. Looking forward to learning more. Thanks !
