Tyla thanks for the advice. I v arranged to borrow my pals terrier as he works nights and wil have a stroll tomo eve. If been out with this terrier before and he was bushing straight away but was rudely interrupted by a swarm of bees. Terrier was fine but laddie and I got stung to hell. We had to wait and go back for ceaser (the jack) none the worse strolled out. Me and mut were layed up lol. Your right about learning area there are some unexpected drops and stuff. Il mooch through summer and as you say try ferreting towards colder months. I do think the bunny a are so used to being left alone
-
Wasn't sure as inexperienced but thanks. I'm not really up for digging and really think the mooch approach will give better enjoyment I'm not after result just after a good walk and one for the pot, I like the idea of ferreting and will do but there is a lot of growth obviously to dig around. By the way that pic was laddies first bunny so wasn't a boast was just chuffed thanks all the same jimmy!

I'm in no rush and the seemed fairly confident that's why I thought a terrier. But its the walk and seeing the daft thing have fun I enjoy most he's learning like me except quicker! Thanks for the advice. Here's a pic of laddies er conquest today.

Cheers brad88 not sure about the spade lol I think il buy little folding ones from army surplus or leave one over there at night. I'm new to the ferreting just mooch about normally and laddies had occasional accidental run on a hare. I think this place will keep me occupied for a while ! What sort of ferret do I need if there is a type? Is it like dogs like looking at the parent etc ? I prob sound stupid but gotta start some were lol I'm off to find some wood for my ruck sack! Cheers

Ha he is tiny but I'd rather loose a ferret. It all sandy so good chance of collapse and my pal would be miffed if I lost his dog. The wife recently turned down my request for another dog and gave me option of ferrets. Any good suggestions of getting the ferrets down a nature reserve for 2 miles with out the ramblers and other dog walker seeing lol. My name not compo and I'm not concealing the creatures down me troosers! Been looking this week but not sure we're or what to by any suggestions ferret wise? Cheers!

Went out today for my usual walk with my saluki x grey. Every time on this walk I pass an old gravel works which I've never gone into as the walk is on a nature reserve but today I ventured in and found an old works road with banks on either side surrounded by old gravel pits now lakes. Couldn't believe how many rabbit holes there were hundreds. I walked the next hour and a half watching the mut running around like a lunatic i headed home. Back tomo with my mates jack!

Well said black widow is getting replace for some thing more pocket size ? Also the elastic doesn't last terrible well I could understand if pulling hundred of shots a day but I'm not. I was looking at those small wooden ones use flat yellow elastic on YouTube (gamekeeper john) ???!
-
racist dogs aside my saluki x loves running down black or brown retrievers or Labradors. Let's them get tired then strikes. He don't injure them just grabs there ass and pulls them down. He coarses them really why only this breed though. He is 18 months so is he possibly going through a phase? He's not terribly egresive though.

First look at red I thought was slow and ungainly even with unquestionable results. I'm no expert and it show as I think I was wrong. He carried a playful puppy style and rather than accusing him of being slow I decided with his success rate that I believe he was clever and knew when to exert energy and he read the hare almost to a mirror image. I couldn't watch this dog run Anough !

Shorten your range to 10 yards and get stalking. Forget about 25 yards until you're spot on at 20 and forget 20 until you're spot on at 15. To be honest the majority of shots taken will be around the 10 yard mark. Practice at that range first and you can push things further as you go. With regards to the Saluki, you're on your own!!! You should've asked me before you bought it!!! Lol!! if i do the hour every day I get pretty accurate at ten yards. Maybe my unrealistic 25 yard approach is down to you guessed it? A very enthusiastic laddie bounding around. Hope fully with nice weather to com
