  1. shame it isnt for roe like it is north of the border. talk about inconsistent firearms laws
  2. i cant see why you cant buy a proofed mod if you wanted it for air gun. as deker says though soon as you put it on your rifle it becomes a firearm. and i dont know how you get round this when you have to tell them your filling your mod slot. as for mag's you can buy them with out fac
  3. i agree with lads above. but a range finder is a must imo there very handy. and once you take one on your shoot you get a good idea of ranges to tree, fenceline, etc etc you can get a 900 scan or 1200 scan for around £200 to £250
  4. I would look at the T4 AR (on my old .222 had one that lasted 6 years)or the new roedale precision mod I have a cqb on my .222 at the moment it is good but has rusted after only 6 months of use im surprised its started to rust after 6 months mate the cqb. I have had one over 3 years and its spotless still. i would send it back to Jackson rifles and get them to replace it. if it was me Bullet channels for the jet-Z family; jet-Z CQB and CQBS, 7.3mm jet-Z COMPACT .25 calibre, 7.6 mm jet-Z COMPACT .30 calibre, 8.7 mm
  5. hi guys i haven't used it in my rifles as I don't have a 223 but a friend of mine does. he asked if I would help him out reloading so he come round to mine with some bits and bobs he had got off the net. we loaded up some rounds together for him. he tried them out the other day in his rifle. he rang me to say he had very good groups with them and the vit 133 gave very good fps over the chrono. i will look back at my reloading book later to see what loads we used. off the top of my head it was around the same amount of powder as dicehorn used as he will tell you each rifle is differen
  6. what about a 3rd eye tactical mod. look them up on the net.. a couple of my friends have them and there very good
  7. well you can get away with the 1/2 thread i wouldnt get it done for 2 reasons. one is cost what is the point in shelling out more money. and the other reason being well a 1/2 thread is more then safe on heavy barrel rifles. I think its best to take the least amount of metal off the barrel I guess that's why sako/tikka use m18x1 on the varmint barrels and m14x1 on the sporter barrels
  8. tiika m595 is what i would look at. wouldnt bother with a varmint barrel on the 222 though but that is just me
  9. the new ase cqbs would work very well on 222 it covers most of the above apart from price !
  10. you wont go wrong with vit 133 powder, rem primer, and a 55 or 60 grain softpoint
  11. you only have to look at the law to give you a clue ! shotgun carts DONT have to be locked up at home though most people do for piece of mind # this tells you something about them !
  12. try a sako game-head bullet. or if you reload i think the heads are made by sierra.
  13. they all do the job its the guy behind the gun to put it in the right place. if i was shooting at long range foxes with 204 i would want to use a 39 or 40 grain bullet. soon as the slot is filled on my ticket will have it sorted. 22lr for rabbits , 17 rem fb for rabbit and fox to 200 yards on some of the flat ground permissions where the bigger calibers can be abit iffy. 22/250 for the foxing and muntjac this rifle gets most use. and once i find a 25/06 to buy that will cover the bigger deer and will also give it a outing on the foxes ! thats all the range of calibers me and my ol
  14. its a shame you cant reload over there mate
  15. i would have the 223 alot more ammo about. not a problem if you reload ? but if using factory ammo 223 as alot going for it. well the t3 action is one size now its still a very good action for sure.
  16. a shop not far from me sell it but its over 30 pound for 20 rounds ! so not the cheapest and im sure it would have gone up also as this was some time back
  17. depends what your looking for mate and what you got to spend. do you want light barrel heavy barrel, what you going to be using it for mainly ie alot of foxing with the odd deer or manly deer and the odd fox. what i would do is look secondhand. well you have to be careful with 243 looking secondhand due to barrel wear etc... i would look at the tikka m590 or m595 in 243 cracking rifles.
  18. just get as much trigger time in as you can mate.
  19. hi mate for the price it would cost to get a new factory barrel for your rifle. you could buy a custom barrel for less ive been getting some prices and the best i could find is a guy called dasherman. his prices have gone up lately but still cheaper then any other i had tryed. look him up his work is second to none so i am told and from what i have seen with a mates rifle
  20. get some time in with the rifles 1st mate then think about reloading the 204. i was like you when getting fac. i wanted ewverthing at once your get there it takes time
  21. you dont want to be shooting anything higher then 40 grain bullets in a 204 as the guy above said you. you are going against what the caliber is made for. shooting light rounds fast and flat. i also wouldnt want a rifle to heavy if your putting nv on it. if you want a 1 in 11 twist barrel on a 20 caliber border barrels price is alot of money you would be better off looking for a used 20 tac. not only would it be cheaper then the price border barrels gave you. but also would more then likely come with 1 in 11 twist. as most people who have them built want to make sure they shoot the 40 vmax
  22. i remember when i was 1st applying for fac brad. one of the lads off a different forum invited me over to his permission in hereford. shot fac air, 22lr and 223 in a nice big safe hillside of a quarry. soon as i had shot them i new those fac forms would be going in the next day 6 months past and then i got my fac with some local land i had permission on. over the coming months i become good friends with a couple of the lads on the forum and got invited to theres most weekends shooting rabbits with the 22lr and hmr. i also helpped out by lamping for them as they controled the foxes.
  23. mate some bottle bushes are pretty good. tipton do a chamber cleaning pack with brush. and mop. dont forget to put some grease on your bolt lugs to
  24. good write up. good to see others taking someone under there wing and showing them the ropes. wish more younger people where interested in shooting getting out in the fresh air. and injoying what our countryside has to offer them. it also teaches them safety with firearms and in the future im sure they will past that on to other younger people coming into the sport
