  2. Shoots really well mate, haven't banded the multiplex one up yet as ran out of theraband.
  3. Thanks guys, yeah the groove in the side is a site, I just find where to draw to (normally my mouth), then line up the site, works perfect. I've now banded it up and it shoots lovely, also made one from multiplex....... Making them is addictive :-/ ha
  4. Hi lads, not been into catties for long. Bought one off BPR couple of weeks ago and loved it!! So thought about having a go at making one myself, being a carpenter I'm able to pick up various hardwoods and multiplex for free at work, so today I took an off cut of 32mm beech and traced out a rough shape and cut out with my jigsaw. I then set about shaping it with rasp, files and sandpaper. Once happy I gave it a quick dip in boiled linseed oil just to see how it would look, have to say I'm really pleased with it, not as nice as some of the ones I've seen on here but it is my first attempt :-/.
  5. Haha A fountain of ideas you lee :-)....... I been in the garden shooting cans :-/
  6. Gunna have a go at making a side shooter tomorrow BPR, going to use the multiplex catty I bought off you but modify it to make a template. Got my joiner mate on the "free" multiplex case.... Soon as he sorts me out I'll send it up to you!.
  7. Big thanks to BPR for putting this tutorial up, I pm'd him after reading it and bought the catty that he made in the tutorial from him ....... Then went on to buy another 2 from him the same week :-) as they are a top bit of kit, I'm now using one of his multiplex catties, that I think is very well made and very accurate, What a top bloke BPR is, great service and always on hand for any advice!! Anyone thinking of buying a catty, I'd definately recommend his work!! Cheers for all your help lee
  8. Handy website that, cheers for sharing
  9. Same on my perms mate, if it ain't myxy then it's p***y's with dogs poaching!
  10. I'm the same as you in that aspect mate, easy to wipe out rabbit population ferreting, at least doing it your way the rabbits get to breed and recover their numbers as your not wiping them all out, which will keep giving you sport and food...... As long as the land owners are happy,
  11. You not got a trap you could bait lee? I reckon she wouldn't be too far away from where you found your hob..... I lost my 2 not long ago, found them together
  12. I find some warrens are only used at night as an escape if they are threaten'd, and don't hold any rabbits in the day....... And your right on getting one over on the estate ;-)
  13. If a dog chases the rabbits in rather than just walking them in then the rabbits may be hesitant to bolt.
  14. Did you find that you had as many rabbits at night as in the day? Would prob have to "walk" the rabbits at night, but at least you would know which warrens would have rabbits in.
  15. Maybe consider getting another Jill mate,as they also like to have company when not working, and like I said you will find the rabbits will give 1 ferret the runaround in a warren, also with Jill's when they come into season you will have to deal with that, either breed them, Jill jab or put them in with a vasectomised hob etc to bring them out of season, jmo
  16. Do you only have the 1 ferret mate? Normally better to work 2 Jill's as rabbits can sometimes give 1 ferret the runaround under ground?
  17. One of my perms has loads of dog walkers on in day, get loads of dodgy looks from them! So thought May be easier at night. Was thinking fishing nite lights on collars etc.....
  18. Anybody on here ever go ferreting at night?
  19. Yeah start working it now before the rabbits start having young.
