To be fair those dogs wimped out, 1 on 1 yup a wolfs a killer, but 3 on 1 if the dogs had a go and meant it it's a different outcome I would have thought

I live on the outskirts of a small town surrounded with countryside, and my kids (I have 6) are the only ones that go camping (out with a camp site) and they're also the only ones that see wild animals regularly. They're also the only ones that keep hens n ducks (and they look after them). They also spend a lot of time on Xbox live etc and have kindle fires n iPads because they enjoy them and let's face it if you don't have them your not cool! But I'm so chuffed that they still love coming a walk with the dogs or camping, don't know why they do, just pleased that they do

True, I can't help being thick tho! Lol fancy both having a days ferreting and both posting a pic of our catches? I may no be bright but I wouldn't mind a wee competition for a laugh, and your marking dogs meant to be better than mine.

Should Lurcher Be Kept In Kennel And Run?

I'd love to kennel my muts but too many thieving scum about my way! Would always have them in with me and my family for a while every day to bond and socialise tho -
I've got hens for eggs but would like some meat birds, anybody recommend a breed or cross? Had somebody say light Sussex x Indian game, but iv not got the experience to be sure. Any help appreciated

Can only say it's never taken me long to encourage a dog to mark reliably and I've never had to chain a dog up while I ferret

Got an albino Jill in Edinburgh if your still looking and it's not too far. About 7 months

Get a dog, maybe a decent mongrel n let it chase a rabbit down a hole, watch how it reacts. Next time it does it stick a ferret down. Never had a dog not learn how to mark within a day or two.

Not that I'd ever let it happen but my bull terrier would take that I think, my lurcher if it couldn't bolt would snap. You teach a dog not to jump on or be rough with a kid so teach the kid the same with the dog! Hated watching that

The reason I asked about the protection instinct is because I keep a guard type dog about the house, been a lot of break ins near me and 1 at mine over the years (kids were sleeping upstairs!) she's getting older and when the time comes to get another id like a dog that I can ferret with as well. Look like dogs that can take a few knocks as well, some of my permission is pretty rough. Cheers for answering
