  1. not that I can find, she's not very photogenic lol
  2. not all mine, only the black faced brindle is mine! lol, I like cropping pics if the scenery is crap... here's ya go
  3. not sure why the pictures are all squashed like that, oh well
  4. My little bitch is still the fastest of the three
  5. the owner reckons this is a first cross beddy x whippet... says dad is a whippet with those markings and mum pure beddy, but the pup was abandoned and rescued by 6 weeks so not sure how she knows what the parents are.... i'd say a whippet/collie but she insists there's not an ounce of collie
  6. great news, pleased to hear it! lucky dog finding someone nice to take her in. let it be a lesson to everyone to chip their dogs, nice to have peace of mind knowing that if they get lost they can be traced back to you.
  7. hope you don't mind, I posted on a couple of whippet/lurcher groups on face book to spread the word. hope she's found safe and sound, and make sure you get her chipped when she's found as they're life savers. knew someone who's dog ran off and after weeks of searching they assumed it was dead on a road somewhere, then after 3 months they got a call from a vet 50 odd miles away saying a dog was found straying with their details on its microchip, they got it home the next day! good luck to you
  8. bloody stunning! great frame, looks strong, lovely head and face - look at those ears! she is f*cking gorgeous, all the best with her and pups to come!
  9. I always wanted to try the "I picked it up off the road, can we keep it" excuse lol, I know my mum would fall in love with any baby animal if she thought it had been mistreated or abandoned haha
  10. I was in almost exactly the same boat - mum wasn't sure of a dog, brother is cat obsessed and hates dogs and I had my other small furry pets to worry about! I think if you want an indoor dog, a small whippet is ideal - they take up very little space on the sofa, don't shed much hair at all, don't dribble or smell when they get rained on, smart little dogs and very friendly and trainable. your parents will love them - my mum HATED dogs till we got a whippety lurcher and now she's obsessed with running dogs! if you decide to keep it outdoors is should have some bedlington or collie in it fo
  11. 100000% NO and never will be! family pet
  12. thanks mate, the pics a bit squashed tho and makes her look taller and shorter in the body lol
  13. cant see any of the pics but a truly touching story with a great outcome, lucky dog to have caring owners like you who didn't give up on her! fingers crossed that she'll recover 110% and be going after those bunnies again one day...
  14. great extract Sandymere, very informative and lots to take in and understand! I think i'll continue as I am just to use up the supply I have, which gives me some more time to get her ready to race, and then i'll probably get some of that Gain28 or Redmills Racer and try a mix of that and raw meat and see how she goes. i'm a big fan of raw meat for dogs so don't feel like I want to change completely onto dry. I prefer the traditional method of feeding but a full 1000g of feed is a lot for my small lurcher, i'd cut that back and maybe split it into two meals. its all a learning curve rea
  15. she eats a lot of grass and silage/haylage on the farm so I assumed she wasn't getting enough fibre, what should I feed her to help that? yeah I mean fitness training as well as lure training - she's already fit but needs to be fitter to have a chance against the proper racers. sorry, what i meant was that a handful of cereal based feed added to meat would be enough fibre. some dogs get a bit bound up if they are getting a lot of bone, for example. i give mine a spoonful of bran mixed with cod liver oil if they are having issues in the poop department...... ah I see, thanks for t
  16. I agree with what these guys have said, sounds like your dogs gonna be big framed so I wouldn't run it too early, its got a lot of growing to do yet. my little bitch got her first rabbit at about 8months on her own - just running about off lead and she got a sitter. boosted her confidence a lot and she started going for more but wasn't quite ready (see I don't take her out working but do encourage her to chase rabbits). I probably did everything wrong for her so she missed a lot and lost her confidence and drive. had I known better i'd have taken her out with some others and kept her on lead t
  17. this is my 15month whippet lurcher bitch, I have another post on here somewhere about her breeding as I don't know what she is. I was told whippet/grey by the owner but she had no idea and no pics of parents - described dam that sounded like a whippet to me and said sire was bigger "like a racing dog". 21.5"tts, 34/35lbs, chunky head, thick slightly feathered tail, feathered arse cheeks, big ears, bloody quick, turns on a 10p, jumps anything, bold - has tried going after badgers, foxes and deer. gets the odd rabbit, I don't actually work her though but would like to. very intelligent (smar
  18. you might not be wrong there. i'd never considered it before but she's got a fairly broad head/cheeks that might be a sign. I defo think there's some collie, she has a longish coat in places and feathering on her tail and bum, and she has an interest in herding lol. the girl described the dam to me and it sounded very whippety and she said the dad was bigger and looked like "one of those racing dogs" so I assumed she meant greyhound. maybe he was a whip/bull/grey or something?
  19. that's cool, if they want to PM me i'll consider it
  20. I will do, just started some training with the Hastings whippet racing club, once she's going a bit straighter after the lure (she treats it like a rabbit- each time it jinks in the grass she goes sideways cos she expects it to change direction lol) and is used to running with a muzzle and other dogs i'll get her to some SLD events hopefully
  21. she's dead meat if she touches my tame bunnies, and she knows that lol! we will see no joke, I can chuck her outside with my rabbits and hens and have a nap for an hour, she wont touch them lol, she's a good girl! wild rabbits are a different story thats what the thl patrick thought I'm sure you know your dog, but just saying - be careful - it doesn't take much to trigger the hunt instinct. If the bunny leaps around in front of her it she may just forget it's meant to be a pet ! I know, but she's damn good, I've seen them scatter and run under her nose, and she just l
  22. my local butcher holds back some bones specifically for dogs in the shop - beef ribs mostly and the odd lamb leg. I try to stop in every week or two to buy myself some lunch and always ask for "something for the dog" which normally is a bag of 2-10 ribs! they ask nothing for the bones there, but I always spend some money in the shop like you do. i'd ever buy a "roasted knuckle" or raw hide from a pet shop when I can get fresh raw meaty bones for free!
  23. Seriously, I would ditch the Wilsons...muesli...dog's just ain't meant to eat that stuff...it's truly vulgar... Up the raw...add some veg and pasta, tinned oily fish and a good quality complete that has meat as the main ingredient...play around a bit...what works for someone else's dogs might not work for yours... Dog looks well...but it'll look even better if you ditch the Wilsons... This is worth a read...I certainly wouldn't feed it to my dogs... http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showproduct.php?product=1961&cat=all thanks for that info mate, I got a sack
  24. good point, I think she has a stomach of steal cos she's eaten everything from chicken madrass to kitkat chunkies and 2month old rotten calf corpse (that she dug out of its burial ground) lol! I may give it a try and see how she goes...
