  1. Heidi threw a fantastic litter of 8; 5 bitches 3 dogs. All were spoken for in advance and are going to excellent working homes with friends and people well vouched for. Finally decided on my keeper, he's not got the long coat the others are showing but he is all class and stood out from day 1 really. Meet "Simba" collie grey whippet deerhound x bedlington greyhound on both sides.
  2. My bitch Heidi is approx 5 weeks in pup confirmed by a scan last week. She is out of a tall racey collie grey, whippet grey bitch with a touch of deerhound owned by D. Poxon and her sire was a serious bedlington greyhound "Gyp". She had a decent season but called it short early due to an injury so made the decision to breed her now whilst she has the summer off. Sire is a serious dog himself out of a primarily deerhound greyhound bitch with a touch of collie and whippet, and his sire was a huntsmans bedlington x greyhound. This dog does the business daytime and on the lamp, s
  3. It's true, she has everything you need in an alrounder but I probably wasn't experienced enough to get everything right with her, lots of things I've got wrong on the way and not been ablr to offer her tonnes of work etc. With someone more knowledgeable and loads more to go at she'd be something special. She is certainaly a better pre-ban bitch than a post-ban though ?
  4. Very proud. She's out of Poxons bitch which is a line bred collie/grey x racing whippet /grey. And a bit of deerhound way back. Her sire was a half cross bedlington grey
  5. Lovely compliment thankyou. She is a diamond, never stops pleasing me
  6. Yeah I saw the pics of him, looks lovely. She made 25tts, very long in the back too. I got her to be a rabbiting dog bjt she does so much more. Wasted in this day and age really
  7. What a compliment! Would be brilliant to arrange something one day
  8. Not introduced this bitch the the group yet. 2 years ago, a few days after my 7 month old collie/grey was killed by a car, I was being offered many pups by kind people but nothing seemed to click. I spoke to Dan Poxon who had a couple left from his litter which I'd watched grow, including his original pick. So off I went, a 3 hour drive to have a look. It was a medium sized bitch puppy with a striking white blaze, she'd been my eye catcher when seeing photos of the litter. She had a good disposition and was playful with her litter mates and it just seemed right, so it was meant to be. Hei
  9. lovely strong looking pup, not been on this forum in years, just popped in and nice to see full sibling to my bitch and nice words about mine too
  10. Haven't posted on here since December 2013! Thought it's time to show my face again. When I last posted, my young bitch Nancy was a family pet catching rabbits around the farm and stables. I was young, clueless, no idea how to work a lurcher and totally thrown in at the deep end. I picked brains for info, watched others from a distance and then found my own way with the bitch who is now 6 years old. She became a pretty damn good dog. I have ended up having several ferrets, and bred litters too. She is a remarkable ferreting dog with a brilliant nose, patience of a saint and cat
  11. mine stopped growing by about 12months, thought she'd get a bit taller. she started filling out and muscling up instead
  12. sounds like a nice mix pup! i assumed mine was a collie/whip/grey but no collie in her apparently. thanks
  13. normally £60 on amazon, on offer £44 though. by wisdom panel
  14. thanks, she's a looker all right. only 21.5tts, very strong though
  15. my whippety lurcher got her first rabbits at 8 months but mostly myxi ones and i didn't intentionally slip her at anything till she was a year old. myxi rabbits are very handy for building confidence without them working too hard
  16. amazing photos! can't believe how many rabbits you've got there, i've seen about 3 rabbits in as many weeks in my area!
  17. turns out she's a deerhound/whippet/greyhound with a bit of bull terrier. thought she was a bit diddy for a deerhound mix but she was taken from her dam at 4/5 weeks so probably didn't grow as much as she should.
  18. yep we both love it, get a little competitive haha. tonight I heard from the winning dogs owner that it pulled a muscle trying to beat Nancy, it was run to its limit! mine was desperate for another run lol, I'm impressed she broke a good dog haha
  19. Haha yeah, we couldn't see the finish from where we were. the where stride for stride until they went out of sight, i'm told it was barely a neck in it at the finish! I'll take a friend with a camera along next time
  20. had her 2nd day of racing yesterday, was dead pleased with her efforts. keen as anything on the lure, ran after it even when crashed into or sandwiched between bumping dogs. She didn't quite have the sharpness & speed but had the stamina so by the 3rd race of the day, over the longest distance, she was still mad keen and ran stride for stride with the winner (saluki x bull/grey) all the way to the line, lost by a neck apparently. Very enthusiastic little bitch and hopefully she'll improve off those runs.
  21. just as I was hoping to get my little bitch working up on the farm, there's been a bad myxi outbreak. Haven't seen any since last Christmas, and now most of the rabbits out there have it and the healthy population is so low; might only see a few healthy ones bolting when you approach instead of dozens... the bitch has been picking them up and gaining confidence but she's only had one decent run in the last couple of weeks. I'm new to this, so would you say that's the season buggered or might the situation improve? will it make her lazy if all she has to do is walk over and pick them up? althou
  22. thanks for replies, as it happens since posting this I've switched from BARF to RAW. she now lives off pork chops/bellies/shoulders, whole chickens cut into 1/4s, whole rabbits (that she catches), lamb chops/legs/necks/organs & rump steaks! got a job in a supermarket shortly after posting this, and they gave me all the unsold meat at the time of sell by date. as it happens, Nancy has maintained a good weight the whole time and is looking fantastic!
  23. thanks, she's a whippet grey/collie we believe vicky are you married haha no and I don't want to be
  24. disgusting... poor mother, someone take her out of there and give her a decent home! poor thing she's a living breathing animal not a money making baby machine.
  25. oh right, yeah before she got onto chasing horses she'd be focus on the rabbits, horse fields were full of myxi ones so she'd go right past a horse to pick it up. then rabbits disappeared for a bit and horses started running about, and she changed her game! if a cow gets cross at her she just runs off a bit and leaves them be pretty sure she's a whip/grey/collie mix lol
