  1. stumbled across this guy on youtube the slingshot he uses is different to the theraband type and uses heavy tubes to fire heavy ammo for hunting with . he claims that his tubes are more suitable for his heavy ammo than theraband and last for a very long time. i have tried to find out what these tubes are but he doesn,t say on any of his many video,s the slingshot he uses looks very big compared to what i,m used to but he seems to be proficient enough with it does anybody know what these tubes are and if so have you tried them or his methods. i don,t know how to put up links to his video
  2. i had a very nervous dog years ago and was always getting attacked by other dogs, he was well behaved off the lead but i had to put him on when other dogs came near or he would run away in fear [usualy back home] my solution was to train him to come for some baked liver when ever he heard a short blast from one of those gas operated dog scarers that give of a high pitched screem. the trainig obviously had to be done at home because he was so nervous, eventually i had a situation that when up the park and a dodgy looking dog appeared i would sound off the screamer and he would come running
  3. you can fit a tbg bandset to your milbro and i,m sure if you do a search on youtube it,ll show you how i would try this first because you are used to the milbro frame, then if you catch the slingshot disease you could buy/make a frame that is evenbetter at getting the best out of the tbg . milbro,s still have a great following and those who use them are very good but i prefer a bit more width between the forks for better accuracy, but thats just me. atb and good luck
  4. what type tube shooter you gettin mate? i,ve had 1745,s looped for a while and they shoot ok but harder pull than tbg
  5. use two different size ammo 10mm steel /4 grams 11mm lead /8 grams had another look at chinese bands explained and if i,m understanding it correctly 1842 single and double are what i need?
  6. yes i,ve done that mate but it only explains thickness and diameter and how the different tubes get their names,it doesn,t give info on which tube matches which ammo .unless i,m missing something. ta
  7. dankung make a selection of different tubes and i have seen the link showing what the numbers mean ,ie 1745 ,2040 as far as diameter and thickness goes, But i can,t find any info on what tubes are suitable for what size/weight ammo any body know ta
  8. like them there,s something classy about a good black and white
  9. if there isn,t i,m quite happy to tell them to stick with what they know
  10. saw an ad in vets recently for rehoming battery hens. don,t know anything about them so any info would be great, the charity pledges to pay for all vet cost for life and that they still produce eggs. i was under the impression that a cockerel was needed for them to lay eggs but have been told this isn,t the case. can anybody enlighten me? i have an enclosed back garden and life in a street with neighbours either side is it legal to keep poultry in this environment? if it is ok and a cock isn,t required then there would be no early morning noise and i can,t see any problems . obviously
  11. thank you for that info on bedlingtons you may have swayed me towards a beddy when my terrier gets older which is something else i.m going to have to put some thought into as well as another lurcher as has been previously said the best potential owner for any lurcher is someone with a bit of patience and possibly a good sense of humor as i,ve found it also helps not to be too proud and ask for help and advice when things don,t go as planned. although i,ve always kept dogs my latest is my first lurcher and its easy to fall into the trap of thinking you know it all because of the years of d
  12. thats very interesting bigears that you lamp with your bedlingtons do you do this in the same way that you would a lurcher? also how do they compare with say a beddy/whippet at the job?
  13. thanks for the replies the general opinion is that its not the type of dog but the type of person that makes the dog i,m pleased to hear this because it means that prejudice towards certain types is usually human error. also if i decide to get another lurcher in the future i have a wider choice
  14. thats good advice about your own temperement and helpful in helping decide on a particular type. also probably true about entering too soon. just trying to get a general overview on types but i suppose types of trainers/owners comes into it a lot
  15. i.ve got a beddy/whippet dog 1st cross and he is my 1st one so i can only comment on him. temperement wise he is easier to train than my terrier was but probably more headstrong than a pure whippet. so you.ll probably be ok if you,re used to terriers. about the house he is more sight hound like , that,s to say he,ll curl up somewhere comfy and not be running about madly. that said he does behave terrier like when someone comes to the door and barks a lot.[easy to forget he,s half terrier] this could be learned behavoir though from my other dog. the thing to watch out for is that he looks
  16. there is always a difference of opinion on what type/cross of lurcher is best and which ones excell at different tasks. i know that all dogs of all types are individuals and there are always exceptions which don,t conform to the norm for their type. its not only how a dog is bred but also how it is reared that influences the end result. so it appears that certain types suit some people and not others. an example of this seems to be that some people are able to train saluki types and others find it very difficult. the people who manage to train saluki types state that you have to know the
  17. handbags eh lee? youve been hangin about with some suspect characters recently ,lol.
  18. sad news for you mate hope all goes well fair play to you for the effort you put in to get your dog home and thank you for the sound advice which i for one will now be taking
  19. falcon pellets are lighter so flatter tragectory experiment with charge pressure ,you may find the optimum is lower than recomended by bsa mines best at 160 to 180 bar 160 bar gives 20 very consistant shots 180 gives 40 but with a bit of variation with the first few shots and last few shots every gun of the same model is slightly different happy experimenting
  20. nice looking dog mate when you say ;nice couple hours getting bonded; did you get the dog as an adult? if you did fair play to you looks very focused on something 2nd picture
  21. well done the wee man. starting so young will make him an excellent shot especialy with his own made to measure slingshot. it,s so good to see your lad doin his stuff in this world of political correctness and anti,s he.s our future i remember when my lads were younger and teaching them to shoot airguns in the back garden it was mostly how to be safe and respect for the gun , the lad next door was looking with envy over the fence so i invited him over , with consent from his dad. needless to say he had a great time and learned a lot next day when his mum found out she politley asked
  22. would be interested to know how kranky cuts his bands differently from normal if you don,t mind me asking ta
  23. hex nuts can be surprisingly accurate but i have found that ,compared to round ammo, they are less accurate over longer distances and also loose speed quicker. penetration is also understanably a lot less than lead on the plus side most hunting shots are close in and the uneven edges on nuts can have a devastating effect at these ranges, also if you have a good supply of nuts then you can get in loads of practise . the way to hold them in the pouch is how you have described. good luck with them
