    the guard dog i have i wouldnt try that lol... nor would anyone else get near the kennels lol... What guard dog do you have Gary. Mine are gd at it my room is almost right next to there run so if I hear them howling I look out the window hes a pied brindle dog!!! plenty of attitude lol

    inbetween a hpr the difference in an english pointer and a spaniel is immense [bANNED TEXT] wich kinda makes me think you havent reasearched the breeds... have a look at the vizsla gwp gsp before getting anything else if you live on open moorland then a ponter is the dog however thse dogs are not for the novice handler....

    sorry to hear that mate....how was thre viz bred was it predominantly work or show lines? theres a fine line on what can be classed as dual bred or working bred im lucky the line of vizsla i keep and breed have exellent drive and ability... remember there are even labs and spaniels that fail... you cant condem a breed because of one failure.. im sorry things didnt work out mate...     that to me screams 'send money here' oh for your info , i fund things myself and dont ask for handouts of others be lucky out of order mate.... how can you call someone a puppy peddler when theyve bred about 2-3 litters taken on and rehomed rescues and just tend to look out and help other people... sometimes people like you just need to grow up!!!

    im west wales not far from aberystwyth...ive had the bitch from a pup and my friend bred the dog i went onto own the mother and father of both vizslas i now have 10 vizslas so breed trhe odd litter here and there.... thanks for the comments orvis appreciated [bANNED TEXT].... i have looked at wirehaired, do they deal with the cold better? definately they have a nice coat and tend to be heavyer boned....

    i work vizslas over gun and hawk... best advice i can give is find one from a decent working breeder not just someone who says they work them...

    i wouldnt use a pointer if your going to be in a beating line. they range too far, there bred for open grouse moors and best suited to walk and shoot/rough shooting. a spaniel is your best bet for what you want, can hunt, flush and retrieve, the best allrounder. a lab can work well in a beating line but their not as good as a spaniel in cover. if your mainly interested in picking up then get a Lab 'wrong mate... theres a big difference between a pointer/setter and a hpr the gwp's and vizslas are a more versatile breed theyre bred to range closer and work tighter they cover more groun

    things can be learned however guessing range aint something people shud try at out if the ordinary distances.. unless you have the technology to do it properly or the ground you shoot on has been measured... with a lazer rangefinder you can practise at great distances... on banks i shoot rabbits out of a hide with the use of a rangefinder succsesfully with ranges up to about 75 yards as long as you know ur gun and the distances trajectory and drop etc it can be done no worries!!! and before the young shooters and cranks jump in with bitching post dont comment unless you know anything about wh

    If you plan to keep it outside then do so from the start.. bring into the house every day to socialise but back out at night id also suggest a heatlamp in the kennels so the sudden drop of temprature going outdoors wont affect it....its good practise as far as anypup is concerned anyhow...

    research the breed and ul be ok....out of all the hpr's the vizsla is the most versatile and easily trained....just go easy on the pup let it mature at its own speed and things will tick along fine....
