paulsmithy.you could well be right .my gsdxg sometimes would chase a hare preban and if he thought he couldnt catch it he would stop. malamutes and german shepherds do have a very independent nature and you canott make them do something if they do not want to do it

trigger2.i personally think that he is exerciseing the dog to hard.and the dog is in need of a rest .i told him rest it up for 5 days then he might see a diffference.it has caught hares so its not slow but he is very hard on his dogs.i think personally the dog is exhausted.

tiny 7.malamutes are very hard and very powerfull and are usaully 90lbs plus in weight .with a very high prey drive.comeing from alaska mother nature over there takes no prisoners .if the dog has not got the instincts it dies its a very hard unforgiveing envoirement.not like this crufts filled island.i canoot see the malamute blood being the weak link .it is the one in the pictures.the only problem is being a saluki lurcher sire there could be anything in it

my friend with the malamutexgreyhound called me tonight .the dog is now 14 months and sometimes chases things keenly and sometimes does not seem very intrested .he has now found out its mal x saluki lurcher .why oh why do people have to lie to others about a dogs breeding just so they can sell the pups ? .accidental mateing apparently.my friend is in his fifties as i am and his hunting time is running out.he like me canott stand saluki blooded dogs so once he and his friends breed thier own genuine malxg it will probaly have to go.the bitch was defenitely pure mal.the dog in the photo he saw

chakwarren.i must agree not worth catching .he caught the first one in a fir plantation.then the next week i was in more or less in the same spot when i thought oh no he has caught another one.i like to let the dog hunt up in woods but within sight this gsdxg was a very good tracker once on the scent he couldnt be called off he would go suddenly deaf.both of these small deer he pulled out of bushes they seemed to think if they froze he would not see them but his eyes did not find them. his scenting ability did they did not even get a chance to run snatched out of the form they laid up in

jdarcy.these were caught bt my gsdxg .in a fir plantation preban.he caught two both were between a large hare and a medium size fox.when cooked they did not taste like muntjack .strange musty taste .it looked a bit like a muntjack with a longer thinner body .is head was not as heavey looking as a muntjack more elongated

beast your right about the fat on them .i put one up out of cover at a place called ledburn last spring it was huge and as fat as a pig .biggest chink i have ever seen it was kicking up the ploughing as it run.they are as you say far heavier than the exsperts say.i have even seen dik dik deer in woburn which are a bit bigger than a hare .tho the exsperts say they do not exist in the wild

borderscott.a average size lurcher preban would take one.the meat is very soft. in winter time they are are covered in thick fat which helps to baste the meat .they taste better than fallow or red .i allways said muntjack is like dark chocalate a bit tangy and strong tasteing.where chineses water deer is like milk chocalate best tasteing meat i have ever tried.if i found some road kill chink next year if you were not so far away i would send you some.once you have tasted water deer venison its never forgotten

borderscott.you are correct it was a very big specimen .i thought jesus that is above average size for a chink.on skinning it there was no fat on it so i thought im not eating that so i gave it to my friend for his whippets .if the deer had not been in poor condition it would have been a lot heavier .you can see by its tusks it was a mature buck.in the past i have caught preban bucks like this and they are a bit heavier.they have 1 to 7 young at a time and weigh according to wilkepedia 31lbs but this one was at least.45lbs .it probaly was a bit heavier i wished i had weighed it now .i know th

borderscott.i remember courseing a hare preban and it run perfectly when caught it had a front foot missing snare i reckon .i couldnt believe how fast it was for a hare with a front foot missing.what annoys me is the antis go on about deer courseing hare courseing but there is one thing forcertain .if a well trained dog gets hold of a deer preban or a hare its not going to escape

chalkwarren.it still felt heavy but no fat on it .i couldnt leave it suffering like that it must have been in that state for a few weeks it had young corn inside it but not a lot.up my way they are reaching plauge proprtions.went a few fields and counted 65.i caught one years ago preban with a air rifle pellet in its leg and one with a old bullet wound.

went out for a walk a few days ago and came across a chinese water deer buck .it went to get up and was staggering around like it was drunk.anyways i had a look at it and i could see pellets wounds in its head .so i thought i will let it get up and see if can get to the hedge . it went a few yds and was clearly not getting very far .so i dispatched it .on skinning it out i could see no muscle damage its liver was clear it had a few ticks on its head.so i thought maybe lead poisoining or lymes desease.there was no fat reserves on its body and i did not want to risk eating it .so i gave it to a
