  1. Also fond of his quote " I am fully ready to meet my maker - whether He is ready to meet me is a different matter !"
  2. These days, it seems to me that the most easily offended shall inherit the earth !
  3. From what I've seen and heard on this, the destruction of the landscape and denegration of food sources, which uncontrolled deer numbers undoubtedly cause, is not the main concern of whichever faceless pillock dreamed up this non-story. Most of the debate has centred around the damage caused to vehicles, in collisions with deer. Bearing in mind the calamity and public opposition surrounding the badger cull, good luck to them on organising a cull of Bambi and his Mum because a few cars got dented !!
  4. FACT! Then why was it years ago before there was a welfare system there was still loads of kids being born into severe poverty? Its no different to today, there has to be more done to help these people at the bottom. People in he community used to help one another, especially those that were struggling. Nowadays we point the finger at them and sneer! You ain't got a clue what you're talking about IMO. As has been said before, divide and conquer. most of the ney-sayers are aspiring middle class, who actually think that they can get rich. It suits every goverment to have a two tier sys
  5. Every time this debate starts, it isn't long before the "I know this bloke...." or "I know loads of people..." bullshit begins. i can remember my school days 10 no6 34p and a bag of chips for dinner 16p, all the shops sold fags to anybody and even in 1`s, i even remember being sent over the coop to fectch 60 no10 for my old man everyday i use to get change out of a quid when i was even younger i can also remember him saying when i first passed my test that petrol would soon be a pound a gallon chips 15p a bag when I was at school. Passed my test, petrol was 36p a litre. To be fair th
  6. If you think you could do better, I know there are shedloads of good boxing clubs all over Northern Ireland. Like I've said - give it a try ! Have a go with a professional boxer, then see what you think !!
  7. LIkewise...............but i cant agree " all fighters are brave men/warriors " etc etc..................thats rubbish. It doesnt take a brave man to do what comes natural................it takes a brave man to do what doesnt come natural I know plenty of lads who've given it billy big bollox and then when they've got in the ring it certainly didn't come natural to them and they wanted to get out. I couldn't agree more!! It's very lonely inside those ropes !!
  8. The whole point of a benefits safety net is that it catches everyone who falls into it, irrespective of how they came to fall. That is the only way you can be sure of catching the genuinely needy. Once you start picking holes in the net, people will fall through who should have been caught. The new assessments for Personal Independence Payments (to replace Disabled Living Allowance) will, by the Government's own figures, remove around half a million claimants. Are they all scroungers, or will at least some of them be victims of this misguided mantra of "Work good,Benefit bad" ? The only thin
  9. I wear neoprene fishing gloves. They're not exactly waterproof, but they are very close-fitting and have adjustable wrist straps. They keep my hands warm, dry AND they have those finger-ends that fold back from your thumb and index finger-very handy for dog lead clips, triggers etc. If you want them totally waterproof, you can buy a can of spray from camping shops that should do the job. Good luck mate !
  10. Maybe we could compile a directory of clubs that members currently attend? I'm not suggesting that we invite, or even tolerate, hatchet jobs or personal attacks on Secretaries or other attendees. A more constructive approach would be to invite details of clubs which members have attended and would recommend, by way of a brief review. I know most places have a website, but if you are new to shooting or moving to a new area, for instance, nothing beats a personal recommendation, and the newbie might even meet the person who gave the information.
  11. Just one other thing AttackFell - to call Evander Holyfield "excellent" is something of an understatement ! Cheers boys
  12. As an ex-fighter myself ( Thai boxing ), I strongly object to any fighter being called a "bum". A fighter may not be the most skilled or the fastest or have the hardest punch, but it ALWAYS takes a brave man to step into a ring. In there you are on your own - you stand or fall solely on your own heart, guts and determination. if you doubt me, try it, test yourself and see what you're really made of!!And if you want to know which punch hurts the most , I can tell you - it's any one that hits you. Some opponents may be pawns in boxing politics, but that doesn't mean they are anything but tr
  13. I was looking for the hunting forums, but I seem to wandered into the Nuremberg rallies ! Thank you Paulus, for being the voice of reason among the baying masses.
  14. Thanks for the replies so far, chaps. I am already aware of Kibworth, but if/when I move, it will take me about 30 miles further away than I already am !! Midshires sounds good , though. May well check that one out, fx !! Milton Keynes ARC, as best I know, is based on a farm in Hanslope, but, as I've said, I have absolutely no knowledge of the area and I'm a stranger to clubs generally, so all info is much appreciated ( I can only afford to belong to one! ) Cheers
  15. Generally speaking, most thing turn out to be Pianoman's fault, but he can be excused this time. Happy shooting Rangioran !!
  16. I'm originally from Nottingham but lived in "Woodhus" for a while, when I was a teenager. Just wanted to say hello and welcome, bro !
  17. I hope no-one thinks this question is out of order, so here goes. Does anyone have any personal experience of Milton Keynes ARC ? My reason for asking is because I may be moving there in the near future and I have no knowledge of the area. I am not trying to elicit hatchet jobs - just genuine, honest first hand experiences. I live in a very rural location and don't belong to a club at the moment. If I move I will probably join this club, so just sounding it out a bit, really, as I'm not sure what to expect.
  18. Gardener's world (online) !! I kid you not - usually very accurate and can be used for a specified area.
  19. Very informative and well-written. I will be applying for FAC in the future, and this has made the whole process a lot clearer and less daunting. Thank you !!!
  20. Seems advice is not forthcoming, mate. Perhaps try the working terrier forum ?
  21. True story! One of my neighbours had, until recently, a Border Collie aged 19 years ! He was almost blind, half deaf and the 30 yard walk to the end of the street took him 10 minutes (honestly). The dog warden told my friend to put a lead on the dog in case it ran out into the road !!!! Common sense is obviously a rare commodity these days !!
  22. The licensing authorities claim to deal with each case on an individual basis, and the whole procedure is surely only in place to ensure that your friend will use and store a gun safely and in accordance with laws, reg's etc. After al, if he wanted it for nefarious purposes, he wouldn't be applying for permission, would he ??? I recently spoke to an armed Police Officer, who informed me that the role of the licensing Authority IS NOT to stop anyone owning a firearm - it is to ensure they are used, stored, managed and monitored SAFELY (his words, not mine). Pianoman's suggestion would, the
  23. They are generally the spotty- faced little berks who don't have what it takes to be a real copper !! That twat Blair introduced them under the disguise of "community involvement", when what they actually are is policing on the cheap !! I Wouldn't care but when they do eventually turn up they are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike ! (End of rant!)
  24. I have had 3 Staffords over the years.Though I've never used them to hunt they are probably ideal ! Loyal, full of energy and utterly fearless. And when you get home, they're brilliant with the kids !! Fabulous dogs !
